Rotating Insurance Summer Internship

Assurance’s 10-week rotational internship program offers students a dynamic and diverse risk management and insurance experience. Interns are provided an opportunity to gain exposure to various areas within an insurance brokerage by working in both Business Insurance and Employee Health & Benefits disciplines. The rotation will consist of one half spent with Business Insurance and the other half with Employee Health & Benefits. As an insurance intern, he or she will play a critical role in supporting the execution of our service platform. He or she develops the knowledge and skills needed to deliver strong customer service by gaining hands-on experience and providing front line assistance to members of the Assurance team. Under supervision of a manager and/or mentor, interns are given the training and guidance needed to successfully complete the program. The program is designed to strengthen technical, professional, and interpersonal skills necessary for both career advancement and professional development.

Responsibilities

EXECUTION OF CLIENT SERVICE

Please note: Intern responsibilities vary by discipline and niche

• Assists with department-specific projects, such as:
• Maintains accurate and complete client, prospect, and carrier data in agency management systems including policy detail, activities, and attachments
• Supports client servicing team with any task associated with the prospect and renewal process
• Creating, updating, and populating client and carrier deliverables
• Organizing, maintaining, and building internal resources and tools
• Prioritizes workload to ensure client, carrier, and agency expectations are met

DATA AND PROCESS INTEGRITY

• Consistently follows client service workflows and appropriately engages internal resources, procedure manuals and reporting tools to ensure efficiency and accuracy of execution
• Utilizes internal resources for identified processes to ensure efficiency and consistency in execution
• Achieves desired levels of data completeness and process integrity by consistently meeting activity timelines, quality metrics, and goals

PEER RELATIONSHIPS AND SELF-DEVELOPMENT

• Participates in insurance courses, team meetings, and industry webinars for skill and knowledge development
• Completes workflow and systems training with Business Process, manager, and/or mentor
• Meets and provides feedback to manager and/or mentor on a frequent basis
• Establishes connections and effective working relationships with Assurance colleagues, fellow interns within the internship program, and interns within other MMA regions
• Works toward achieving individual and team goals
• Develops and delivers group presentation on assigned topic with other interns

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

• 1+ years of undergraduate completed
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Passionate about pursuing insurance as a career path post-graduation

PREFERRED:

• Pursuing BS/BA Insurance, Business, or related field
• Intermediate or advanced skill level with Microsoft Word, Excel
