The Position
Within “Small Molecules Technical Development” our Process Analytical Technology (PAT) section is responsible for the implementation of PAT tools to support drug substance and drug product development, scale-up and clinical supply. Roche/Genentech PTD is currently implementing continuous drug substance and drug product manufacturing and Real-Time-Release-Testing, where online-analytical methods play a vital role for process monitoring and control.
Good team working skills, a “can do” attitude, a strong customer focus and close collaboration with our internal partners (DS/DP development, clinical manufacturing, analytical development, quality and regulatory functions) is key to our success.
As intern you will work in close collaboration to experienced PAT experts to develop and implement PAT solutions. Typically your tasks will include the planning, organization and performing of experiments, measure and evaluate spectroscopic data and building chemometric models.
Possible experimental work could include (tbd in detail when we are closer to the start of internship):
Chemometric model building using NIR and/or Raman to predict tablet CQAs (critical quality attributes) like assay, CU, water content, identity
Development of NIR models for prediction of drug substance water content
IR/Raman monitoring to support drug substance synthesis processes design
Use of NIR for blend uniformity monitoring of batch and continuous drug product processes
Who you are:
You are master student or advanced bachelor student in the subject of Analytical Chemistry, process chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, and have an interest in technical and analytical challenges. Also other Science studies are acceptable. As the ideal candidate, you will have the following skills and qualifications:
High level of motivation and ability to implement pragmatic solutions
Good team working skills and a “can do” attitude
intermediate in either English or German
Interest and ideally basic expertise with spectroscopy (e.g. NIR, Raman) and analytical techniques for on-line process monitoring,
Interest and ideally basic expertise with multivariate data analysis (especially PLS regression and PCA)
