Location: The role will be a field based position where you will work flexibly whilst covering the geographical area of Richmond and Wandsworth
Hours: 35hrs per week
Salary: £22,078.37 to £24,349.64 pa inclusive of London Weighting – depending on experience
Contract: Permanent
We have an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Multidisciplinary Advocate to join our established and friendly Advocacy Team.
Our team provides a range of specialist advocacy services to adults and children who are facing important decisions that impact on their quality of life and independence or have long-term implications. We help people who would have substantial difficulty advocating for themselves about understanding their rights and entitlements, their medical treatment, care, accommodation, complaints against any NHS-funded service, expressing their views and wishes.

How will you make a difference?
As a Trainee Multidisciplinary Advocate you will provide a high quality, responsive and effective advocacy service in accordance with the service specification, contract and legislative timescales. You will ensure that individuals understand and can exercise their rights; supporting people to access information, to understand better what is happening, what is planned, and the options available to them to make better informed decisions and be more involved in their care and support.
In addition, you will act on allocated referrals in accordance with the service standards and engagement protocols, communicating with referrers as required in order to ensure the client’s rights under the relevant act are observed.
The role will also include representing patients’ interests when they are not able to do so themselves, including working within a best interests framework for any eligible patient who lacks the mental capacity to instruct the advocate

The role is ideal for anyone who has a passion and keen interest in supporting local communities and would like to start a long term career in Advocacy service.
You will receive an intense practical training alongside support with obtaining relevant qualifications so that you can develop your knowledge and skills to become advocate expert in comprehensive range of areas.
To Be Considered For The Role You Will
be working towards or willing to take the National Qualification in Independent Advocacy (Level 3 or new Level 4)
be willing to work towards additional specialist units in the national advocacy qualification (e.g. IMCA, DoLS, IMHA, ICAA, Independent Advocacy for CYP and Health Complaints0
demonstrate commitment to completion of required qualifications within set timescales
have experience of working with individuals with learning disability, mental health etc for example as a Support Worker or volunteer.
ideally have a good understanding of advocacy practice and principles of empowerment and knowledge of relevant legislation through experience or research
have ability to form positive working relationships with a wide range of clients
have ability to respect and promote a person’s right to make informed choices and decisions without influence
You May Also Have
experience of providing advocacy to Children & Young People / completion of specialist CYP training
