Job location: Leeds Wood Recycling, Holbeck, Leeds, LS11 9RT

Contract: Permanent, 37.5 hrs per week

Salary: £25,716 per annum

Annual Leave: 28 days per annum (including bank holidays)

Benefits: Workplace pension scheme

Working Hours: 37.5 per week, 9am to 5pm, over five days in a seven day period. This will include weekends. Shift patterns maybe subject to change

Responsible for: Managing the retail operations. Developing and motivating a team of paid staff and volunteers to drive increased sales. Improving visual merchandising and helping LWR grow.

Training & Development opportunities: Individually tailored induction, training and development such as First Aid, Fire Marshall, and a range of woodwork training courses

Position Summary: We are looking for a proactive new retail manager to join the team! We need a highly-motivated manager, to serve members of the public in our reclaimed timber shop by selling timber and assisting customers with enquiries/ fulfil customer orders.The manager will be required to use a range of hand and power tools, and support the day to day running of the Leeds Wood Recycling. Representing LWR at all times by offering an excellent customer experience. As a small enterprise, the manager and team need to be versatile and be prepared to share in a multitude of tasks. Overall purpose of the job

Managing the team: The position involves managing a small retail team and the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing training, coordinating rota’s, holidays and HR issues that arise.

Organising and streamlining: We get a vast range of reclaimed timber in, which alongside ‘bought in’ stock, and customer orders need organising and communicating to the public and LWR team. You will be dealing with online and telephone enquiries linked to all sides of the business.

Helping us grow: This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of the growth of LWR, as we are currently planning on moving to new premises and potentially expanding our retail hours, and developing our online presence.

We are a small friendly team, who are looking for a retail manager who is passionate about our social and environmental values, and who has vision and a ‘can-do’ attitude to help us grow.

Key Responsibilities;

● Opening up / closing the shop – The manager is a key holder for the building

● Cashing up / Movement of cash to safe / working alongside the finance officer

● Setting and Fulfilling sales obligations

● Working with the finance officer to create sales reports, ensuring LWR is reaching financial goals

● Operating the till, adding products to the EPOS system as needed

● Ensuring the smooth running of iZettle, issuing refunds as needed

● Selling / Upselling to hit sales target

● Cutting wood to order for customers and/ or coordinating the workshop team/assistants/ volunteers know what jobs need to be completed

● Sorting, stacking, de-nailing, sanding and preparing timber for sale at our premises / or coordinating the workshop team/assistants/ volunteers to complete the tasks needed for the daily running of the enterprise

● Assisting the workshop with timber supplies, working alongside the workshop education coordinator, warehouse coordinator and workshop designer maker to ensure timber supplies are in order.

● Working alongside the manager and education coordinator, supporting the smooth running of events, evening and weekend classes.

● Helping and advising customers by offering a high standard of customer service

● Stock control, buying in new stock and managing stock levels i.e finishes, scaffolding and ironmongery levels. Keeping stock levels replenished inventory and investigating possible causes for discrepancies. Ensuring items are on the shelves and displayed attractively.

● Keeping the shop/ yard /storage areas in good order, clean and tidy and safe

● Helping with administrative tasks, such as calling customers and suppliers

● Running the LWR social media platforms, creating advertisements and supporting online retail

● Cutting customers orders in the workshop

● Supporting and supervising volunteers

● Recruitment of new members of the retail team
