As a Social Worker with the Resources and Placement Service, you’ll help support young people either in their families or in placement and identify placements for Camden’s most vulnerable children.

The role

We currently have a fantastic Social Worker job opportunity within the Resources Team. This team is part of an integrated Looked After Children (LAC) service comprising LAC Social Workers, Fostering and Permanence, Virtual School a specialist health team and targeted CAMHS provision. 

In this role you will have the opportunity to work with professionals of every discipline. The post holder will operate in a remit of preventing accommodations, supporting kinship placements, identifying foster and residential placements and maintain current placements.  The role allows for the practice development of workers skills and knowledge in the complex and interesting area of child care planning from entry to care through to the identification and support for their Permanency plan. The post holder will have two main roles. One, supporting young people either in their families or in placement. Two, identifying placements for Camden’s most vulnerable children.

This demands workers ability to build and sustain relationships with children and young people and their families, work productively with social workers and other professionals and have a good understanding and ability to work with foster carers and residential units.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and will require an Enhanced DBS.

About you

The successful candidate will hold a Diploma in social work, or equivalent qualification, and you must be Social Work England registered.

You will have experience in implementing care packages for young people who are at risk of accommodation or need to be looked after. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in developing needs-led packages of care and provide innovative care packages within budgetary constraints in conjunction with other services provided by the Department and independent agencies.

You will have good working knowledge of making entries on a young person’s file further to visits, meetings. You will have good communication skills both (verbal and written). You will possess the ability to build and sustain robust relationships with children and young people and their families, work productively with social workers and other professionals and have a good understanding and ability to work with foster carers and residential units.
