Resource Mobilization and Development Officer

Details of Employment:

The Resource Mobilization and Development Officer will be based in Geneva, Switzerland and report to the Director, Development and Partnerships. The position is full-time and fixed-term, ideally from 16 May 2022 until 16 November 2022. The position will require travel to Montreal,Canada (COVID-19-related restrictions permitting) from 27 July to 3 August 2022.

Purpose of the Position:

The incumbent will be responsible for a broad range of development management and coordination services. The Resource Mobilization and Development Officer together with the department Director and other team members will help ensure that IAS engages strategically with donors an department, the incumbent will serve as a focal point for donor and sponsor outreach communication, and actively supports their consideration of IAS programme and conference funding.

The focus of the position will be on pursuing resource mobilization and contract implementation for AIDS 2022, the 24th International AIDS Conference, as well as launching outreach efforts for IAS

2023, the 12th IAS Conference on HIV Science. iasociety.org

Main Responsibilities:

  • Donor relations: Act as a liaison/focal point for major donors and sponsors; ensure timely
  • Proposal development and reporting: Lead or support, as required, the timely submission of proposals and other grant/sponsorship-related documents that reflect donor priorities; draft and ensure timely submission of reports to donors and sponsors.
  • Grant negotiation and compliance: Ensure effective grant management by supporting the negotiation of viable donor/sponsor agreements and ensure organizational compliance track payments.
  • Information management: Obtain up-to-date information on donor trends and priorities to support the identification of new business opportunities; update information and tools for line and progress tracking (SharePoint).

Perform additional tasks requested by the Director, Development and Partnerships.

Academic Qualifications:

A degree in international relations, social science, political sciences or a related field.

Work Experience:

  • At least 3 to 5 years’ professional experience preferably in the public health and/or not-for-profit sectors with exposure to fundraising, resource mobilization, business development and/or large-scale event management
  • Project management experience
  • Experience working in an international context
  • Although not essential for this position, the IAS acknowledges the value of the experience of living with HIV and will consider this when evaluating applications.

Skills/Competencies:

  • Excellent analytical and drafting skills, including the ability to write technical, programmatic and fundraising-oriented communications
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to motivate commitment in clients and colleagues across hierarchies and from different professional and cultural backgrounds
  • Ability to build/foster relationships by reinforcing trust and respect and demonstrating high standards of tact, diplomacy and discretion
  • Ability to handle complex situations and demonstrate sound judgment and problem-solving iasociety.org

  • Demonstrated propensity to be creative, collaborative, proactive, and self-motivated in the execution and completion of assigned accountabilities

  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work and deliver to tight deadlines

  • Ability to use office software including advanced skills in the use of spreadsheets, databases and other data management tools for information management and analysis.

Languages:

  • Strong and demonstrated English language communication skills both written and oral are essential for this position. French will be considered as an asset.
