Job Summary

The Resettlement Casework Assistant will provide administrative and logistical assistance to the Resettlement team to ensure client services are provided and documented in a timely and efficient manner and in-keeping with donor regulations. The Casework Assistant could have a small caseload as they assist the overall team with services and support. This position reports to the Resettlement Supervisor.

Major Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in preparing documents for new arrivals and sending information to appropriate agencies.
  • Review case files to ensure that required documentation is present and well organized and prepare files for closure.
  • Assist in referring clients to local resources or other social service programs.
  • Assist Resettlement team with the completion of comprehensive service plans for each case.
  • Assist Supervisor in ensuring that required reports and case notes are submitted in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings and other meetings as needed.
  • Provide transportation to clients for necessary core services activities.
  • Provide support services in health, housing, school enrollment, benefit enrollment and documentations for the clients based on service and self-sufficiency plans.
  • Provide core services assistance to clients, case noting, logging activities into ETO (computerized database), data entry tasks and staffing cases as needed with coworkers.
  • Participate in all program meetings, staff development activities, and fully engages as a member of the team
  • Comply with all IRC policies, procedures and protocols including adherence to the IRC Way and Child Safeguarding.
  • Other related duties as assigned

Other Internal and/or external contacts: **

Internal: Resettlement Caseworkers, Sr. Caseworkers, Cultural Orientation staff, and Housing Support Coordinator, Employment Specialists and other IRC staff, interns and volunteers

External: Position helps coordinate services and is responsible for maintaining relationships with appropriate vendors and community partners

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED with some formal post-secondary education preferred
  • Demonstrated relevant work experience in human services field, preferably in a non-profit or social services agency environment.

  • Lived experience as refugee or immigrant. In lieu of lived experience, experience working with refugees and/or immigrants; cross-cultural or overseas experience accepted.

  • Fluency in written and spoken English, bilingual ability preferred in Swahili, Kinyarwanda, Arabic, French or other refugee/immigrant language used in Arizona. Cross-cultural understanding and strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Computer proficiency with an emphasis on Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook). Proven experience in web-based data entry systems, with both data extraction and design preferred.

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.

  • Flexibility with demonstrated ability to maintain responsibility for multiple tasks in the context of a diverse, fast-paced work environment.

  • Strategic, creative, problem solver capable of working well independently and as a part of a team.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license, active insurance policy, access to reliable transportation and the ability to travel regularly throughout the service delivery area for home visits.

  • In accordance with Arizona State Law, must possess or be eligible to receive a fingerprint clearance card.

Working Environment*:*

  • Current remote work. Standard office work environment combined with travel throughout service delivery area**
  • Reoccurring need to provide services outside of traditional work hours (early morning, evenings and weekends).
  • This position is based out of Phoenix, AZ. Travel for the provision of resettlement services can range up to a 100- mile radius.
  • May have to work varying hours including some night and weekends.
  • Ability to lift 35 lbs to 50 lbs to move furniture, household supplies, and boxes.
