The UNDP regional project on Anti-Corruption and Integrity in Arab Countries is planning a series of papers on the nexus between: corruption and private sector development/ corruption and climate change / corruption and youth empowerment / corruption and women’s empowerment / and corruption, conflict and peace.

For this consultancy, we are seeking a researcher with a publications track record related to anti-corruption and youth engagement in Arab countries to carry out desk research and write a paper onthe nexus between anti-corruption, peace and conflict in the Arab region, including on corruption as a potential cause and result of conflict in the region, corruption in conflict financing and peace negotiations, and preventive anti-corruption measures to address this nexus. The paper will draw on international and regional literature, with examples from Arab countries.

The work is home based (remote) and will result in a 25-page paper over a six month period in 2024, with an agreed amount paid as an all-inclusive lump sum.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Master’s degree in Peace Studies, Peace and Conflict Studies, Social Sciences, International Development, Public Policy, or any other relevant field (required); PhD an advantage.

Work experience:

  • Proven track record of publications related to peace and conflict (required);
  • At least 5 years of experience related to governance, anti-corruption, and/or peace and conflict, including in the Arab region (preferred).

Language:

  • Language proficiency in both written and oral English (required).
  • Language proficiency in both written and oral Arabic (preferred).

  2. The offer shall be submitted by the employer on Quantum in order to issue the RLA to the employer.
  3. Also, the individual needs to select the RLA option when he/she/they complete the IC offeror letter (see item J, check the box for an RLA).
