General Description of the Organization:

Ghiras Al-Nahda is a Non-profit Non-governmental humanitarian organization working to empower people by fulfilling their basic needs and seeking to improve community stability and resilience.

Background to the Assignment:

Ghiras Al-Nahda aims to conduct a comprehensive needs assessment of the education system in Northwest Syria (Idleb). The study will focus on identifying the barriers and challenges faced by educators, students, and communities in accessing and delivering quality education in the region. Additionally, the research will explore potential opportunities and innovative solutions to improve educational outcomes and ensure access to education for all, despite the challenging circumstances.

Roles and responsibilities:

  1. Research Design: Collaborating with the project team to define research objectives, formulate research questions, and develop an appropriate research methodology.
  2. Literature Review: Conducting a comprehensive review of existing literature and studies relevant to the research topic to inform the study’s framework.
  3. Data Collection: Designing data collection tools, such as surveys, interviews, focus group guides, and overseeing data collection efforts.
  4. Data Analysis: Analyzing research data using appropriate statistical or qualitative analysis techniques to draw meaningful conclusions and insights.
  5. Reporting: Preparing and presenting research findings in a clear and concise manner, including written reports and presentations (both in Arabic and English).
  6. Recommendations: Provide evidence-based recommendations based on the research findings to address the research objectives.

Reporting:

The Researcher will report directly to [Project Manager or Supervisor].

Any issues or concerns regarding the consultancy should be communicated promptly to the designated project contact.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  1. Advanced degree in a relevant field (e.g., social sciences, education … etc.).
  2. Proven experience in designing and conducting research studies, preferably in the context of development projects.
  3. Strong analytical skills and proficiency in both qualitative and quantitative research methods.
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  5. Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  6. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality outputs.
  7. Familiarity with ethical considerations in research involving human subjects.

Duration:

The researcher is expected to commence on [15-3-2024] and conclude by [14-6-2024].

LOCATION:

The workstation is remotely or in Gaziantep office

The location of the research will be in Syria (Idleb).

Key Deliverables:

The Researcher is expected to:

  1. Design a document outlining objectives, research questions, and methodology.
  2. Data analysis report presenting findings and insights drawn from research data.
  3. Written reports and presentations summarizing research findings and recommendations (both in Arabic and English).
