The Consultant will complete the following deliverables:

• Preparation of background documents and materials for the GHPF.

• Preparation of outcome and follow-up reports for the GHPF.

Duties and Responsibilities

The services to be provided by the Consultant will include:

• Conducting research and drafting background documents and reports, including summaries and follow-up reports of the 2022 GHPF, in line with OCHA Policy Branch’s policy agenda, including over the last 2 years.

• Conceptualizing and organizing the 2022 GHPF and related events in the run up to the GHPF in line with outcomes from prior GHPF’s in the last 2 years.

• Reaching out to Member States, agencies, and partners to facilitate exchanges of expertise and views on specific humanitarian issues; and

• Preparing statements, key messages, correspondence, presentations, and other strategic communications materials based on priorities of OCHA’s evolving /horizon scanning policy objectives.

Qualifications/special skills

A masters-level university degree in international law, international affairs, political science or a related field.

7 or more years of working experience is required.

Prior experience in drafting humanitarian policy reports is required.

Understanding of a broad range of humanitarian issues is required.

Prior experience working with OCHA, especially prior experience in the researching, drafting and publication of OCHA material and reports is desirable.

Languages

Fluency in English, written and oral, is required.
