The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is seeking a Research Associate, EatSafe to provide technical and coordination support for EatSafe project activities. This position will be based in Sokoto, Nigeria.

The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is a Swiss-based foundation launched at the UN in 2002 to tackle the human suffering caused by malnutrition. Working with both governments and businesses, we aim to transform food systems so that they deliver more nutritious food for all people. In particular, we aim to make healthier food choices more desirable, more available, and more affordable. GAIN’s mission is to advance nutrition outcomes by improving consumption of nutritious and safe food for all people, especially the most vulnerable to malnutrition.

About the Role

Reporting to the Head of EatSafe Country Programmes, the Research Associate will contribute to and support research and project implementation efforts, identify and liaise with local counterparts in Kebbi and provide technical and coordination support for project activities.

Key Responsibilities include;

  • Working closely with the Head of EatSafe Country Programmes and project staff to support implementation of the project’s activities including but not limited to overseeing implementation of activities in the market, supervising data collection activities, verifying data quality, coordinating local partners and supporting local stakeholder engagement
  • Ensuring all project activities are completed according to the implementation timeframe and budget.
  • Coordinating with local research and implementing partners, contractors and consultants to ensure all research activities are completed as planned on time, and with high quality
  • Supporting in research translation and dissemination, including but not limited to preparation of presentations and abstracts, technical briefs, journal articles, case studies, success stories, and/or blogs
  • Handling the measurement and testing of programme interventions in Sokoto State, the stakeholder engagement processes

About You

The ideal candidate should have demonstrated work experience in project management and research programmatically relevant area. Previous experience in food safety research or closely related fields/research in the food and agriculture space. You should be a strong team player and enjoy working in a multi-cultural, cross functional team.

The postholder should have knowledge of research techniques, including both qualitative and quantitative methods. Also, you should be able to use prioritise multi-tasking and work well under pressure to meet deadlines. You should be high flexibility and willing to travel in country occasionally.

About our Offer

The starting salary on offer for this role is from NGN 6,100,478 – NGN 6,966,279 per annum, depending on experience.

GAIN has a fair and competitive salary structure that allows for annual progression subject to good performance.
