SIGWATCH

Join our Central London-based team, analysing NGO and activist campaigns from across the world.

About SIGWATCH

SIGWATCH is a small but unique company, helping business and finance to understand the trends and risks that drive the fast-growing field of environmental and social governance (ESG) and corporate social responsibility (CSR). We provide daily intelligence reports about advocacy and NGO campaigning that affects government policy and public awareness, as well as bespoke research and consultancy. Our customers are typically prominent multinationals, financial institutions, and academics, so we get to work with great people on some really interesting problems.

About the role

You will be working on bespoke research for clients and for our own use and contributing to SIGWATCH’s thought leadership in the NGO-corporate relations and ESG space. You will report directly to our Head of Research and will be instrumental in preparing a wide range of research projects. SIGWATCH’s research team is small and looking to expand quickly as the business grows, so you will also help with business development and the design of new products.

You will join a highly intelligent team based in central London, supported by a global network of equally smart freelancers who contribute much of our content. If you are dynamic, self-motivating, and ready to play a key role in your own development, this is the place for you.

Required:

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant subject such as politics, development, or sustainability.
  • At least 6 months experience, preferably in a similar field (internships count).
  • Enthusiastic self-starter, willing to work dynamically and carve out opportunities for themselves in a growing sector and business.
  • Ability to interpret and use quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Able to express yourself in writing clearly and succinctly.
  • Ability to build good relationships with clients from all industries and cultures.
  • Some knowledge of civil society dynamics and activism.

Desirable:

  • One or more foreign languages at a good reading level.
  • Familiarity with a programming language such as Python, R.
  • Understanding of corporate social responsibility and ESG concerns.

Your career progression

SIGWATCH will support you as you take ownership of your professional development in this growing team. We will encourage and support you to attend appropriate courses and training. We will also aim for you to progress quickly into client-facing work, project management, and publishing ‘think piece’ articles with your own by-line. You will be eligible for promotion to Research Associate after one year, and Senior Research Associate after 2-3 years.

Salary

Starting salary £27,000 plus non-contributory pension equivalent to 10% of gross salary.

Closing date for applications: 6.30pm, Friday 18th February.
