The Registrar and Assistant/Associate Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs is responsible for the leadership and management of all programs, services, operations, and personnel of the Registrar’s Office and supports the academic and instructional mission of the College. Serves as the primary steward and certifier of all official academic records in accordance with the College’s academic policies and procedures, federal and state laws, and FERPA guidelines. Serves as a chief assistant to the Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs; does related work as required. The Registrar and Assistant/Associate VP of Academic and Student Affairs is responsible for maintaining and advancing Wells College in delivering technology to enhance academic and student services. This position reports to the Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Serves as a chief assistant to the Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs.
  • Work with vice presidents, deans, directors, department heads and other offices to implement and monitor applicable academic policies.
  • Provide for the security and integrity of the student record system.
  • Provide leadership and management for all aspects of student academic records, student registration services, oversees the final grading process, degree certification, course and classroom scheduling and various publication services.
  • Provide leadership in the development of the academic calendar.
  • Work collaboratively with key stakeholders to provide oversight for technology and management related to the student records system; provide direction and leadership in developing new, innovative, and emerging technologies that significantly enhance student and faculty/staff satisfaction.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations regarding student academic records, in particular the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  • Actively participate in internal governance by serving on committees as required.
  • Coordinates the curriculum update procedure for faculty each semester acting as liaison between faculty members and the Curriculum Committee.
  • Serves as secretary of the Curriculum Committee and as a member of the Academic Standing, Advising and Admissions Committee (ASAA).
  • Compiles enrollment and retention figures each semester for distribution to the President’s Cabinet and others.
  • Coordinates the NYSED, MSCHE, and IPEDS reporting process for the campus, including providing much of the required data directly. Completes other reports and surveys
  • Serves as the liaison with the New York State Education Department for program deletions or changes and new program registration
  • Supervises the work of the Assistant Registrar

Master’s degree in a related field and at least 5 years of progressive management experience in managing student academic records and services in higher education. Demonstrated knowledge of student data management systems and associated technology.
