Reporting to the Clinical Coordinator, the Registered Nurse works between the Acute Care Unit and the Emergency Department as required; provides professional nursing care to patients as a member of a multidisciplinary team; is responsible and accountable for coordinating and administering direct patient care utilizing the nursing process; provides direction to staff and volunteers; and responds to emergency situations to safeguard patients, visitors and staff in accordance with the unit/program philosophy, competency guidelines, policies, and the BC College of Nurses and Midwives professional and practice standards..
QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Training And Experience
Current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives. Advanced preparation in emergency and/or obstetrics specialty training. Two (2) years’ recent related experience in medical/surgical, obstetrics, emergency/urgent care, neonatal resuscitation, emergency pediatrics or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.

- Ability to apply the nursing process effectively in a well-organized manner to the care of assigned patients.
- Ability to physically perform the duties of the position.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal effectively with a variety of internal and external contacts including co-workers, physicians, community agencies, representatives, patients/clients/residents and families.
- Ability to remain calm and to act appropriately in stressful and emergency situations.
