BACKGROUND:

African Parks is a non-profit conservation organisation that takes on the complete responsibility for the rehabilitation and long-term management of national parks in partnership with governments and local communities. We currently manage 22 national parks and protected areas in 12 countries covering over 20 million hectares in: Angola, Benin, Central African Republic, Chad, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Malawi, Mozambique, Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Zambia, Zimbabwe and South Sudan.

African parks is recruiting an experienced Regional Technology Managerfor the Central African Region.

JOB OVERVIEW:

African Parks, engaged in the protection and rehabilitation of the Conservation Area, is looking an experienced The Regional Technology Manager is responsible for supporting all technology and communication soft and hardware uses as well as developments in the parks under his / her region. Coupled with GIS support as well as training, this is a crucial role within the regional structure which helps parks abide by and achieve AP standard for the Central African Region. Situated in a challenging and remote locality, the position requires previous operational experience, strong leadership, patience team player, and diplomatic skills.

The Regional Technology Managerwill reportto the Regional Operations Manager, the primary purpose of the role will be to provide practical support to parks, through the best Practice in technology and communication soft and hardware.

Tasks will include:

• Overseeing and coordinating all technology and communication roll outs, both from a hard as well as software aspect via the in-country Technology managers as well as their chain of command;
• Supporting all GIS work in the region, via the in-country GIS managers;
• Train staff and develop necessary skills to achieve overall objective of AP technology within parks under the region;
• Improve data collection methods standardizing the use of field data collection apps;
