JOB PURPOSE:

To achieve greater human rights impact, the post holder provides support and guidance to the Regional Offices for Europe, Eastern Europe Central Asia by bringing stability, consistency, simplicity and clarity to the strategic and operational planning, project management and impact assessment. The Advisor will provide methodological and strategic advice to the regional leadership and ensure alignment and coherence with global strategic planning, impact analysis and learning practices.

ABOUT YOU:

An inspiring and experienced strategy and planning expert, with substantial experience developing and implementing strategies and action plans at national and regional level. You will have very good knowledge of strategy development, organisational change and the political context in Europe, Eastern Europe and Central Asia. You will be comfortable working on the key thematic areas as outlined above and be able to work efficient and apply participatory methodology facilitating planning and priority setting for the Regional Offices as well as for Sections in the Region. You will use cutting edge planning methodology as well as agile approaches. You enjoy navigating highly political issues in an organisation and are excellent in collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Guiding planning and prioritization processes across the two regions with an emphasis on integration of strategic and operational planning processes. Ensure coherence between national, regional strategies and the global Strategic Framework.
  • Simplifying and aligning the regional planning with the global operationalisation process
  • Guiding external trend scanning on human rights issues, tactics and approaches
  • Building capacity and skills on planning, monitoring & evaluation to support the advancement of Amnesty’s approach to impact assessment

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience in impact-oriented planning, developing and implementing monitoring and evaluation frameworks and systematizing organizational learning – especially in cross-functional and cross-regional project teams and organisations.
  • Experience in strategy and theory of change development for social change and human rights impact, and particularly in guiding effective influencing plans, with clear objectives and outcomes.
  • Connection to external networks and movements;
  • Ability to negotiate, influence and build cooperative relationships.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English.

Proven ability to work under pressure including the ability to cope with deadlines, multiple tasks and competing deadlines in a changing.
