The Opportunity

The Regional Safety & Security Analyst (RSSA) will support the safety and security department of the regional office in improving the capacity of analysis, providing regular gist, situation reports for the most sensitive countries SCI operates in, collecting safety and health data to propose ad hoc support, keeping updated the mapping systems and crisis/conflict indicator trackers. His/her analysis will support the RSD/RSM decisions to keep high level of compliance with SCI standards, as well as to enhance early warnings / preparedness at both country and Asia regional levels. He/she will support on a daily basis the regional security manager and director.

Key Responsibilities

Context and security analysis

  • Supporting the S&S department in a daily manner
  • Providing safety and/or security analysis on the field situation and its impacts for our program
    • Following up on the situation & incident with country SSM and SSFPs
    • Keeping the trigger tracker updated
    • Keeping update and maintain live system on incident and situational analysis
  • Monitoring safety and security, and risk advisory platforms, seeking inputs and feedback, triangulating information, identifying actionable intelligence (public and private) in the region, in support of crisis, incident management and humanitarian emergencies,
  • Monitoring security incident trends, health and safety incident trends and producing analysis and insights (written and visual) to support management decision making
  • Working collaboratively with security team to collect their info, receiving their feedbacks and analysis on incident development and potential new upcoming risks
  • Collecting and gather security information to provide regular sitreps especially for the medium to high-risk countries
  • Collecting and managing appropriately the sensitive information coming from non-open sources
  • Following up on new/current threats as well as new criminal trends in the region
  • Preparing presentation on security related incident and trends
  • Maintaining updated all databases of relevant information
  • Collecting and compiling appropriate security information to support the incident reporting process
  • Developing new mapping & incident follow-up system with regional/global IT team

Decision making support

  • In liaison with RSM/RSD, supporting the COs in their decision process according to immediate risks related to security concerns
  • Producing analysis, and insights to support management decision making
  • Permanently reporting to the RSM/RSD
  • Assisting the S&S team during crisis time with accurate and real time information.

Liaison

  • Participating (when possible) with RSD/RSM to meetings with UN security bodies, national security agencies and security bureau of various embassies
  • Liaising with security analysts in the region and establishing/maintaining an efficient security analyst network
  • Participating to security forums and conferences relevant for the role
  • liaising with safety and health advisor/Centre and other departments to facilitate information flow
