IRW is currently recruiting for the position of ‘Regional Programme Coordinator’ to join its International Programme division based in either Mali, Niger or Malawi with up to 40% of time in the field. The Regional Programme Coordinator will;

  1. Provide support to allocated country offices in delivery effective programmes according to the Regional Strategies and raising the profile amongst donors and potential funders.
  2. Ensure that country programmes are implemented and reported on in a timely and of a qualitative manner according to the Country, Regional Programme Strategies and that the projects are well represented internally and externally
  3. Ensure that all information related to country programmes are organised and accessible
  4. Support in setting of budgets and monitoring expenditure
  5. Support in the capacity building of field offices
  6. Communicate with a range of IR partners, institutional, private donors and other international NGOs related to issues concerning respective countries and regarding the implementation of projects.
  7. Spearhead fundraising efforts to market projects both within Islamic Relief Worldwide partners and externally
  8. Keep an up to-date overview of operational matters in the Region, with knowledge of IRW activities in Country Offices.

The successful candidate must have:

  • Proven track record of working with INGOs in developing countries in rehabilitation; development or emergency contexts
  • Experience of working on emergency and/or disaster preparedness programmes in developing countries
  • Experience of successfully fundraising and dealing with institutional donors and international donors
  • Proven experience in monitoring and evaluation of programmes; use of quantitative and qualitative research data collection in support of programme development
  • Substantial experience and knowledge of effective budgetary control and grant management
  • Knowledge and experience of fundraising from and dealing with EC, ECHO, UN and DFID
  • An in-depth knowledge about ICRC Code of Conduct, IHL, SPHERE, CHS and other similar standards that impact the humanitarian work of INGOs such as Islamic Relief
  • Experience of managing and mentoring local and international staff
  • Excellent written and spoken English and/or French
