Position Duties

  • Serve as the operations specialist for METI’s programs in the Middle East region including Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon;
  • Assist METI with local registration in Jordan including but not limited to opening a bank account and securing suitable office space;
  • Manage all of the financial transactions between METI and its partner organizations including wire payments, payments to vendors, short-term consultant contracts as needed, bank account, and any other day to day finances;
  • Manage the METI office space in Amman including the lease, landlord interactions, payments, legal services, and accounting services;
  • Manage logistics and organizational tasks for regional events, workshops, study tours or other exchange programs;
  • Ensure compliance with local legal requirements including all licenses, certificates, insurance, bank accounts, offices, payment of taxes, and registration of vehicles as needed.
  • Interface regularly with partners in Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon who are receiving funding through METI’s programs to build and maintain relationships, monitor program quality, and evaluate work on the ground;
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and strong relationships with stakeholders;
  • Provide frequent updates and reporting to METI, Inc and the US Forest Service.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, operations, or administration;
  • Experience working in the Middle East;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Demonstrated financial management, operations and administrative skills;
  • Capable of executing complex tasks with minimal supervision over an extended timeline;
  • Experience working with diverse partners in different countries and building and maintaining relationships;
  • Fluency in Arabic and English desired;
  • Experience managing complex logistics and coordinating events;
  • Prior experience managing U.S. government-funded or other international donor-funded activities, including maintaining compliance with U.S. government (or other international donor) regulations, strongly preferred;
  • Willingness to travel internationally to Egypt and Lebanon and work outdoors;
  • And, demonstrated capacity to prioritize multiple tasks to ensure efficient and timely completion.

Period of Performance: The initial employment period will be from June – September 2022 with the possibility of a 1-year contract.

Location of Work: Amman, Jordan with regular travel in country, and to Egypt and Lebanon.
