THE ROLE

The Regional Nutrition Advisor provides technical leadership and support to SCI’s country programs in the Middle East, North Africa and Eastern Europe (MENAEE) region in line with Country Office, Regional and SCI global priorities. Working in close coordination with the regional technical and operational advisors, this position will play a key role to strengthen SCI’s Nutrition capacity, primarily through hands on technical assistance, strategic and programmatic support, coordination, advocacy, fund-raising, capacity building (training / mentoring /coaching), talent acquisition and development, and surge capacity for implementation and emergencies. The Regional Nutrition Advisor will use their in-depth contextual understanding, technical and operational expertise to contribute to building capacity and fostering networks across country office staff, and support building innovative, integrated practice. The Regional TA also plays an active role in SCI’s global and regional coordination and networking mechanisms, and in advancing progress on key global initiatives, such as SCI’s response to the hunger crisis, as well as regional interagency initiatives on integrating the nurturing care framework with early childhood development. This position will also contribute to advancing SCI’s broader regional priorities including program integration, gender equity, social inclusion, nexus programming, disability inclusion, mental health and psychosocial support and child participation.

In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the post holder will be expected to work outside the normal job description and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

The position includes regular travel to SCI’s programs in the MENAEE region.

To be a strong supporter and advocate for children on this role you will need to demonstrate:

  • At least 5 years’ experience of working internationally in Nutrition programming in humanitarian settings, including field experience in diverse acute and protracted crisis settings
  • Highly developed technical competencies in nutrition in emergencies, and in early recovery and links to long term programming
  • Experience in integrated programming, preferably including with one or more of the following: MHPSS, Health, WASH, and Cash and Voucher Assistance
  • Experience of Emergency Preparedness Planning
  • In depth experience of ensuring application of global standards in nutrition in programming
  • Significant experience in training, capacity building, and mentoring
  • Demonstrable understanding of M&E, beneficiary accountability, and learning
  • Skilled at networking, representation and partnership development in order promote learning, strengthen civil society and mobilise resources.
  • Master’s degree in Nutrition, Public Health, social work or a related area
