With an expanding portfolio of humanitarian assistance and disaster preparedness, risk mitigation and recovery programs, we are currently seeking a Regional Manager (Associate Principal) to become a critical member of our dynamic International Development and Humanitarian Assistance team in Asia. This position is anticipated to play a key role in maintaining a strategic vision for the program management team in the region, as well as constructive relationships both inside and outside of the organization while ensuring overall program quality and impact. The Regional Manager (Associate Principal) based in Asia will actively support implementing strategic direction and frameworks the region.
Some of the central responsibilities of this position are:
Program Leadership
Provide leadership to Miyamoto program teams in Asia, ensuring that priorities and opportunities identified are in line with and contribute to achievement of project goals and Miyamoto objectives for the region. Represent Miyamoto with donor partners, private sector, academia and other key stakeholders, in close coordination with the country teams. Support the strengthening and development of monitoring, evaluation and learning program and operational strategies and their successful roll out across countries. Establish and strengthen productive relationships with relevant organizations and networks, technical experts, government, and partner agencies as required. Ensure that Miyamoto���s program portfolio and implementation plans are on track to meet programmatic objectives. Provide guidance to programs/projects implementation teams regarding tools and strategies to ensure that programs take into account input from communities, a thorough understanding of the operational context, and the application of technical best practices. Work with the program, operation and finance teams to ensure appropriate and timely grant spending to achieve program goals, including procurement, use and distribution of supplies and resources. Team mentorship, including communicating clear expectations, establishing a supportive environment while emphasizing accountability.
Business Development
Work with the country and home office teams to identify funding opportunities and develop competitive, responsive proposals. Provide leadership support to in-country grants and projects team, and collaborate closely with the home office finance and other support teams to develop evidenced based and cost-effective funding applications. Remain attune to funding trends in the region, and provide regular updates on these trends and analysis to the team Provide thought leadership and supervisory management for programs, including mobilization and stewardship of resources, program quality, accountability, and performance management. Participate actively in management, coordination, and strategy meetings with other members of home office and global teams.
Rapid Response Deployment
Support to Asia regional disaster response and deployment. Ability to lead and deliver projects under emergency response pressures in resource-deprived environments with difficult living conditions.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor���s degree in international relations or international development, disaster management, business administration or related field. At least 10 years of progressively responsible professional experience managing international development, disaster risk reduction (DRR) and/or humanitarian assistance programming. Strong familiarity with Resilience, DRR, or Integrated Risk Management, shelter core programming areas, including WASH and Protection. At least 3 years demonstrated successful leadership experience managing a multi-disciplinary/multi-cultural team. Excellent coordination and negotiation skills for internal coordination and for working with key stakeholders. Demonstrated ability for rapid, accurate analysis of complex issues, strong decision-making, and translation of programmatic priorities into operational strategies. Proven record of accomplishment of leading teams across locations. Experience providing oversight for a program portfolio consisting of a variety of complex, high-value donor-funded projects. Fluency in spoken and written English is required. Fluency in an Asian regional language is highly desired. Strong oral and written communication skills, with ability to express ideas and concepts clearly and persuasively in English with senior internal and external stakeholders. Extensive representation and fundraising success in the Asia region, including prior experience establishing relationships with international donors. Capacity to cope with ambiguity and dynamic work environments. Ability to respond to multiple priorities in a timely manner, producing high-quality outcomes.
