About the job

Kvinna till Kvinna is currently implementing the program MENA Feminist Power in Action for Women’s Economic Rights (FemPawer) that aims to strengthen young women who face multiple discrimination of economic gender-based violence. This program is part of a strategic partnership between Kvinna till Kvinna as lead applicant of a Consortium, consisting of 4 consortium partners and 39 women right organizations (also referred to as Partner Organizations – POs), and the Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation (Social Development Department, Taskforce Women’s Rights and Gender Equality).

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled professional to join the FemPawer program as a Regional Advocacy Officer, playing a key role in driving impactful advocacy initiatives across the countries of implementation (Lebanon, Jordan, Tunis, and Palestine). In this role you have the responsibility to develop and implement FemPawer advocacy strategy, support partners in advocacy initiatives, overlook the consortium communication and visibility strategy and contribute to program development, donor reporting and coordination.

Your tasks will include, but not be limited to:

FemPawer Regional Advocacy Strategy and its Implementation

  • In close collaboration with consortium partners, develop, implement, and maintain the regional advocacy strategy for FemPawer.
  • Coordination of FemPawer Advocacy Working Group, consisting of advocacy focal points from consortium partners to support, develop and follow-up on regional advocacy activities.
  • Lead regional advocacy campaigns and initiatives, in close collaboration with FemPawer Advocacy Working Group, Kvinna till Kvinna country offices, and any other relevant stakeholders.
  • Coach and provide tailored training to FemPawer partner organizations in developing advocacy strategies and in the implementation of selected advocacy initiatives, as per request of consortium partners.
  • Support country teams with the development, implementation and monitoring of national advocacy strategies and initiatives, as per request.

Research and Advocacy Events

  • Disseminate and launch the Community Based Research that was done at regional level in the consortium, in close collaboration with consortium partners, partner organizations and consultancy team.
  • Map country research done under FemPawer consortium and identify how to make use of the different research products for evidence-based advocacy.
  • Map and identify advocacy national, regional or global events that are relevant for the consortium to participate in.
  • Provide support, as necessary, for country-level advocacy events.
  • Content contribution to global research initiatives at Kvinna till Kvinna which cover the MENA region, and any coordination of these if required at regional level.
  • Review and adapt the visibility and communication strategy developed for the consortium.
  • Contribute to content, and if needed design, of FemPawer related communication material.
  • In compliance with FemPawer communication guidelines, ensure that existing communication and branding material is up to date.

Contribution to Program Development, Donor Reporting and Coordination

  • Support in proposal and concept note development for the next strategic partnership with regards to advocacy content and achievements.
  • Contribute to FemPawer reporting on regional advocacy efforts.
  • Review M&E tools for Lobby and Advocacy and make changes as necessary.
  • Report and follow up on advocacy indicators for the program.
  • Represent FemPawer in regional advocacy forums and coordinate with relevant stakeholders (i.e. Dutch MFA, INGOs, embassies, etc.), as per need and/or as delegated by Steering Committee of the consortium.
  • Be part of Kvinna till Kvinna’s global advocacy efforts and participate in regular advocacy coordination, consultation and strategic planning meetings between head office and regions.

About you

To be successful in this role, you should be dynamic and results-driven, and have a proven track record in strategic advocacy and research. You also possess the ability to collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders. You have strong coordination skills and can successfully steer the implementation of impactful regional advocacy initiatives. You are dedicated to driving positive change with a passion for social justice and a keen understanding of the MENA region. You are ready to make a significant contribution to advancing FemPawer’s advocacy goals.

Your work is characterized by openness and the ability to build relationships with a wide variety of people. You work with patience, flexibility, and adaptability. You also share our commitment to feminist principles.

You need to at least have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferably in Gender Studies, Political Science, Human Rights, or any other related field,
  • Minimum four years of relevant work experience with women’s human rights, gender equality issues, women’s empowerment, women’s political activism and/or organizational development,
  • Experience in monitoring and evaluation of Lobby and Advocacy initiatives, and proven experience in identifying and providing capacity building to local NGOs,
  • Good understanding of human rights and the application of a rights-based approach in development cooperation,
  • Experience of working in/or knowledge of the region,
  • Languages: Excellent written and spoken Arabic and English; good written and spoken French is a plus,
  • Ability to travel within the MENA region or outside the region to attend internal and external meetings and workshops.

Employment form: Full-time position for 1 year (incl. 3 months’ probation), with possible extension.
