European Institute of Peace

Based in Brussels and active in over a dozen countries, the European Institute of Peace (www.eip.org) is an independent organisation working collaboratively with the parties to the conflict, those who represent people suffering from insecurity or at risk of violence, as well as European decision-makers and the conflict prevention, resolution and mediation community.

We provide practical experience, technical expertise, and policy advice on conflict resolution. We use a variety of tools to help us do this, including analysis, mapping and design of peace processes and agreements, facilitating policy discussions, and proposing practical engagement, for example through inclusive dialogue and mediation support.

Are you captivated by our innovative approach to peace, and do you want to contribute to the mission of our institute? Do you share our vision for a world where people live in safety and peace because conflicts and grievances are resolved through inclusive dialogue and lasting political agreements?

We are looking for a Regional Advisor to support the team’s current projects in Israel-Palestine within the Engagement, Dialogue & Process Design Unit (EDP).

You will

  • Contribute to the development and delivery of the Institute’s programme activities.
  • Support the implementation of assigned projects, dialogue activities, events planning and management, preparing for and taking meetings at various levels.
  • Support preparation, implementation and facilitation of missions of the Institute’s team to the Palestinian territory.
  • Develop and maintain strong network, liaising with local stakeholders, academics, and civil society actors – in coordination with the Institute’s team – to support the Institute’s engagement and the programme objectives.
  • Monitor local and regional developments.
  • In-depth context analysis: help the team expand its ongoing analysis of the overall situation in the Palestinian territory.
  • Contribute to the production of briefings, papers, and written outputs.
  • Other tasks in support of the programme implementation.

Your skills and experience

  • Minimum 7 years of experience, 3 of which spent in the field of mediation, research into conflict dynamics or in the field of diplomacy, multilateral/international organisations,
  • University degree in political science, law, conflict resolution, international relations, journalism or a related field.
  • Expert knowledge and understanding of the political, economic and conflict situation in the Palestinian territory and the ability to translate this knowledge into structured writing.
  • Significant contacts and experience in building up networks.
  • Excellent teamwork and people skills with the ability to multitask and coordinate with colleagues based in different locations and time zones.
  • Diplomatic skills; awareness of security and political sensitivities, including experience working in a representative function.
  • Based in the West Bank or in Jerusalem with the ability to travel within the West Bank.
