IRC Background: The mission of the International Rescue Committee (IRC) is to help people whose lives and livelihoods are shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover, and gain control of their future. In 2016 the IRC opened the New Jersey Office for Refugees (NJOR) to provide coordination for resettlement activities and funding within the state. NJOR enters into partnership agreements with several resettlement agencies and other non-profit agencies throughout the states to implement the refugee support programs funded by the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR). NJOR is one of three statewide refugee offices operated by the IRC.

Job Overview: The Refugee Cash Assistance Specialist is responsible for a range of programmatic and administrative functions to ensure NJOR’s oversight of the RCA program at subaward agencies is implemented as effectively and efficiently as possible. The Refugee Cash Assistance Specialist reports to the Economic Empowerment Program Manager.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and updating of the RCA Manual of Policy and Procedures.
  • Maintain all RCA program related forms, including translated documents.
  • Conduct monthly quality assurance of RCA data submitted by sub-award agencies, reconciling programmatic data and finance data.
  • Review client documentation and respond to sub-award agencies’ questions on RCA client eligibility, as needed.
  • Support the development of training resources and materials for sub-award agencies implementing the RCA program.
  • Organize all aspects of logistics for meetings, trainings, and conferences.
  • Review data and narrative reports submitted from sub-award agencies and compile information from data and narrative reports for ORR Semi-Annual Reports;
  • Assist in planning and drafting of reports from annual monitoring of sub-awardees.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Job Requirements:

Education:** 4‐year college degree in relevant field required. Graduate degree in management, administration or related field desired.

Work Experience:** At least 2 years of experience with administrative or operational responsibilities.

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:**

  • Attentive to detail.
  • Experience with non-profit administration a plus.
  • Previous experience supporting grants or contract management an advantage.
  • Proven ability to contribute both independently and as a key team member.
  • Self‐starter with excellent problem‐solving skills combined with the proven ability to multi‐task, prioritize duties, and manage time effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook); Experience with databases and applications preferred.
  • Ability to maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders
  • Commitment to the principles of diversity, equality, and inclusion

Language Skills: Fluency in written and spoken English.

Working Environment:**

Work from home. Expectation to travel within New Jersey for partner meetings and events.

Compensation: Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
