  1. THE COMPANY

Conflict Management Consulting (CMC) provides services in Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E), research and technical assistance in fragile, conflict and post-conflict areas. We work for international organisations, governments and civil society, deploying multi-national and highly specialised teams of experts. Our in-house staff and global network of consultants have provided services to clients in the thematic fields of stabilisation, peacebuilding, migration, conflict sensitivity, humanitarian action and governance, focusing on the humanitarian-development nexus, as well as expertise on violent extremism (VE).

  1. THE JOB

CMC has been contracted by Save the Children for the implementation of the USAID-funded project “Development Food Security Activity (DFSA) in Mali”. The project’s aim is to improve food security and resilience of communities in conflict-affected areas, through strengthening local systems and community participation in four regions of Mali and to sustain the food and nutrition security of vulnerable populations.

CMC is currently looking to recruit a Senior Technical Advisor for CMC’s participation in the project.

  1. TASKS

As Senior Technical Advisor, you will be working closely with the programme team. Your tasks include:

  • Leading on conflict analysis research focusing on the project’s implementation regions in Mali
  • Producing high standard conflict analysis reports in French
  • Leading on implementing the project’s conflict sensitivity strategy
  • Providing specific inputs and feedback to ensure that context-specific conflict sensitivity dynamics are incorporated at all levels of project implementation.
  • Leading on tracking the evaluation of conflict dynamics in program geographies, utilizing this information to assist in programmatic decision-making regarding implementation geographies and modalities.
  • Developing training materials and support training program team members on a regular basis in conflict sensitive development approaches and, as necessary, relevant negotiation and conflict management practices.
  • Creating and sustain a work environment of respect where team members strive for excellence.
  • Supervising team members as needed to update and refine the project activities.
  1. QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Required skills and Experience:

  • Relevant Master’s degree in the social sciences or economics.
  • At least 7 years of relevant work experience in the development and humanitarian fields, in sectors including: food security, Cash assistance, peacebuilding and conflict management, development/humanitarian nexus, migration.
  • At least 2 years of experience conducting conflict analysis and integrating conflict sensitivity into projects implementation.
  • At least 2 years of experience working in Sahel;
  • Proven experience managing teams (remotely and on site);
  • Experience working on USAID-funded projects is an asset.
  • Good understanding of the context of Mali.
  • Experience working in Mali is an asset.

  • Cultural and political sensitivity and the ability to exercise sound judgment.
  1. WORKING CONDITIONS
  • The position is full time, with possible travels to Mali;
  • The start date is as soon as possible and when we have identified a suitable candidate;
  • There will be a three-months’ probation period;
  • On a normal workday, you will speak with the project’s team members to discuss, update and coordinate work.
