The Isle of Wight Council now needs a talented and enthusiastic Recruitment Administrator to join our HR Team, to help us attract, onboard and retain staff for all council services across the Island.

From Adult Social Care and Regeneration to Communications and Corporate Services, you’ll learn to understand the hiring needs of every team and each directorate, at all levels, giving you a unique insight into how our council works.

Do you care about careers?

Our Recruitment Administrator will be an advocate for careers at the council and understand the importance of a great ‘candidate experience’ when hiring. You’ll need be able to signpost teams to in-house recruitment guidance, so ideally, you’ll already have an interest and general understanding of recruitment and employment (formal training will be provided).

Can you talk the talk?

In recruitment you need to be an exceptional verbal communicator with a positive, helpful attitude as you’ll be liaising at all levels, from supporting hiring teams and job applicants to communicating with external recruitment agencies.

If you have a flair for creative writing, even better! You’ll be supporting our council teams with recruitment campaigns across a variety of digital platforms including social media as we push further into a digitally focused jobseeker market.

Are you adaptable and organised?

As well as bringing new recruitment campaigns and initiatives to life, you’ll need to be a confident and capable administrator, able to independently use traditional office applications like Excel and Outlook. Your great attention to detail will be the key to your success as you proofread documents, create contracts, carry out DBS checks, manage diaries and databases and take accurate minutes at fast paced meetings.

You’ll certainly need an organised approach to work and be able to adapt quickly to shifting priorities as recruitment is a fast moving and reactive industry. You’ll also be called on to support the wider HR team occasionally so we need someone who will embrace change and adapt to new workloads.
