Overview of position:

  • Response Med is seeking to provide health professionals to deliver clinical services in UN facilities located in Somalia.
  • Personnel shall deliver primary care & hospital level services, including emergency, surgical, diagnostic, intensive care & general hospital services.
  • Personnel shall provide the services at the UN level 1+ health facility located in the UNSOS camp within the AAIA in Mogadishu & in sector health facilities, as & when required.
  • Additionally, personnel may be to reinforce these AMISOM level 2 hospitals during emergency situations that severely stress facilities.
  • The UN level 1+ health facility is a capability that was established in 2012 with the objective of providing emergency & primary health care for the UN international personnel in Somalia.
  • The facility has since been supporting UNSOS, UNSOM & AMISOM FHQ personnel.
  • Additionally, the facility is available to international personnel from other UN entities, diplomatic missions & UNSOS contracted vendors, on a cost recovery basis.
  • Services may, on occasion, also be extended to the SNA.

Role objectives:
We are looking for a qualified Biomedical Engineer to provide services that will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Installation & commissioning of bio medical equipment.
  • Preventive & routine maintenance.
  • Operational support of biomedical equipment.
  • Breakdown & corrective repairs.
  • Calibration.
  • Inventory management.
  • Technical evaluation / assessment before acquisition of new equipment.
  • Operation of medical oxygen plant.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate & take minutes of various department meetings & subcommittees meetings & compile reports as assigned.
  • Facilitate internal & external meetings including booking meeting rooms, venues & managing logistics in domestic & international locations.
  • Review requests for prioritization with executive partners.
  • Provide logistical & administrative support for continuing medical education sessions, divisional conferences / workshops & clinical governance.
  • Update & maintain staff records including details on members listing, licenses, insurance cover & any other pertinent information.
  • Facilitate & prepare medical reports as assigned & managing external parties.
  • Coordinate the requisition & stock control of all stationery & stock items for the office.
  • Attend to all mail & telephone messages, calls, voicemails for appropriate sorting & delivery & action.
  • Maintain department related files, both paper & electronic.
  • Maintain a proper document handling system in the office by keeping an efficient filing & retrieval system.
  • Attend to inquiries & liaise with the appropriate staff as necessary to ensure that the needs are satisfactorily attended to.
  • Maintain a high degree of confidentiality & professionalism.
  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the supervisor from time to time.

Project reporting:

  • This role reports to the line manager.

Key competencies:

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma, with 3 years of Clerical, Secretarial, or Office experience.
  • Proficient computer skills, including MS Office.
  • English proficiency, a minimum of level B 2 is required.
  • Preference / desire to live & work in Somalila.
