Job Description

As a member of the Global Real Estate & Facilities (GREF) team overseeing corporate office space – this position will primarily manage all property and facility activity in India. The role will be based at BLR and include some travel. This role combines team leadership and a commitment to internal customer relationship management. We seek a senior leader who demonstrates proven success in building and running a fast-growing organization, delivering simultaneous complex projects and programs with demanding timelines. The successful candidate must operate as a true business partner to local business leaders, finance, HR, IT, and other functional areas and establish highly integrated relationships with vendor partners. He/she must be comfortable operating at both the strategic and tactical levels, simultaneously acting as an internal ambassador, educator, analyst, solutions architect, and implementer. Experienced in multinational/multi-cultural/matrix corporate environments. Having a passion for and in-depth knowledge of Corporate real estate (Real estate and portfolio strategy project management skills and facilities operations )functions with a financial focus, is critical. The optimal candidate is an experienced, vibrant, and engaging professional who will excel within an entrepreneurial culture – providing vision, leadership, and communication – but not afraid to deep dive into details. They should also be approachable, knowledgeable with an ability to handle client/ vendor services – fostering transparent external relationships, and balancing frugality with creativity.

Responsibilities

  • Mentors, develops, and coaches a team of RE/Facilities managers and their teams to strengthen their leadership and assist in achieving career growth
  • Drive RE strategy and direction for site operations consistent with global program guidelines and vision; think globally, execute locally
  • High level relationship management with stakeholders including supporting portfolio enhancement requests in a dynamic environment
  • Prepares and presents project proposals to senior Business Leaders and corporate management for review and approval.
  • Drive and support special projects and strategic initiatives for the portfolio
  • Partner with Workplace Design teams on new initiatives, site retrofits, etc.
  • Assures capital projects, operations projects and reconfigurations are managed by key stakeholders with outstanding customer service
  • Support the creation and delivery of operational objectives facilities services, programs and contracts in the portfolio
  • Provide strategic direction to facilities management teams (direct reports and outsourced vendor teams) who oversee facilities operations of sites
  • Manage third party contractors/vendors engaged in operating and maintaining sites
  • Accountable for annual budget development, financial variance reports and operations analysis
  • Further develops standards and procedures as business and customer needs evolve
  • Partner with procurement on opportunities to RFP and/or negotiate service contracts
  • Work with corporate legal counsel to manage contracts and day to day operations where applicable
  • Participate in any site/country/portfolio level crisis including local FM, HR, GREF Leadership, Business Assurance Centre (BAC), Corporate Security, Business Continuity (risk/legal when required) and also establishes and maintains open, positive relationships with team and customers (Amazon employees)
  • Conducts regular, formal site condition inspections and solutions systemic deficiencies identified
  • Collaborate with global peers to ensure consistency, lessons learned, and best practices across regions

Basic Qualifications

  • A minimum of 15+ years professional experience required – a significant portion of which should demonstrate success in managing a property and facilities organization of similar size and complexity and building/maintaining relationships with internal customers
  • Demonstrated experience as a leader with 10+ years of senior management responsibilities
  • Experience building and managing a team or department within a startup or entrepreneurial setting, particularly one with both proprietary and contract resources
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • A track record of championing speed, flexibility and frugality in the face of rapid change and extremely heavy workload
  • Exceptional communication skills; ( especially written & spoken English) proven ability to lead cross-functional teams through influence versus direct management; excellent interpersonal skill
  • Highly competent with productivity software, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and SharePoint
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent in data and analytics/ metrics
  • Understanding of sourcing/procurement, building systems and maintenance, vendor management and customer service
  • Comfortable with legal terms and structures for standard commercial contracts
  • Proven self-starter who sets aggressive goals and consistently gets results
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and successfully execute tactically
  • Effective resource management and project management skills
