Salary range: 3,200-3,800 USD/month

The role

The Human Resources Senior Officer will work closely with the HR team and other managers to ensure efficient and professional human resources operations of the organization. They will identify and develop appropriate and, where needed, innovative human resource initiatives that promote the welfare and safety of CLEAR Global team members, strengthen the organization, and are designed for a largely remote team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead on support to the Ukraine response, focusing on recruitment and onboarding, initially, and quickly moving to supporting well-being and growth, ensuring contract management issues are resolved in a timely manner, and off-boarding processes are followed.
  • Act as sounding board and advisor on diversity, equity and inclusion, by helping to ensure that candidates, team members and former team members are respected, treated with dignity and feel comfortable and supported in the organization.
  • Implement, maintain and monitor human resources processes and procedures, including recruitment, contract preparation and renewals, leave, timesheets, on-boarding and separation.
  • Participate and facilitate in learning and development activities
  • Support the roll-out of new HR policies and procedures
  • Advise staff on day to day interpretation and implementation of HR policies
  • Handle payroll preparation and safeguard on going smooth coordination with Finance
  • Ensure all human resources systems and processes are documented, current and filed appropriately
  • Develop and manage volunteer and intern programs and assist with volunteer management, including supporting Erasmus and university work placements.
  • Ensure all HR processes and decision-making are fair and free from any kind of prejudice
  • Actively participate in building a culture that will ensure the organization is positive, proactive and well placed to respond to a changing environment.
  • Organize induction processes and provide administrative support, when needed.

Qualifications

The Human Resources Officer should be enthusiastic about the importance of increasing access to knowledge through language. The right candidate is an energetic team player who agrees with CLEAR Global’s basic beliefs and values and who can work remotely with team members based throughout the world.

  • Creative and proactive in finding new solutions; willing to explore and work with new technologies
  • Resourceful, able to get more out of small budgets and small teams
  • Experienced and organized
  • Experience managing volunteers a plus
  • Previous experience with non-profit organizations a plus
  • Previous experience with a US based organization a plus
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong writing skills and training skills

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • At least 5 years experience in Human Resources functions
  • Proficient in office management systems and procedures
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Attention to detail and problem solving skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Google Docs; CRMs, evidence of learning new technologies
  • Language or translation experience preferred
  • Fluency in English; additional languages welcome
  • Humanitarian/Development experience preferred
  • Background in training and/or capacity development
  • Demonstrated writing experience
  • Track record working with volunteers and small teams

Background

CLEAR Global is already working to translate information for humanitarian actors across the response and working with coordination mechanisms in Ukraine and the surrounding countries.

CLEAR Global’s response currently conceived of as three parallel work streams, all supported by advocacy:

1. Working with humanitarian organizations to ensure that IDPs and refugees have easy access to the actionable and safe information they need and want in their preferred language and are heard:

    • Support channels of digital communication to ensure trusted curated information is available in multiple languages
      – Adapt and localize content for different contexts and in different formats
      – Identify, and disseminate information on, irrelevant, old, false or harmful online information
  • Provide language services, if possible interpreting, to ensure information is available in the relevant languages and format
  • Develop tools for humanitarian interpreters and translators
  • Train humanitarian interpreters and translators to address the increase in demand for language services
  • Support feedback mechanisms

2. Inform responders and governments of the language and two-way communication needs and preferences of refugees and IDPs and improve their two-way communication practices:

    • Research needs and preferences 1. of specific at risk groups of refugees and IDPs 2. At different stages in their journey 3. On specific topics
      – Produce guidance documents
      – Develop training tools and train volunteers/staff in two-way communication
      – Develop glossaries of key terms for each cluster/sector in relevant languages
      – Support feedback mechanisms

3. Working with a full range of partners, protect refugees by ensuring that host families in transit and final destination countries effectively communicate with them and understand their responsibility

    • Research on needs and preferences
      – Support the development, translation, dissemination and uptake of q host families’ Code of Conduct or equivalent
      – Glossaries and tip sheets
      – Provide trusted and correct information to share with refugees and listen to their concerns (chatbot for example)
      – Create and share content regularly (through FB and municipalities) – newsletters
      – Collect feedback on their experience and difficulties and share for response – response to be provided in regular newsletters a’d/or other relevant formats and channels
  • List of target languages :
    • Ukrainian, Russian, Romany, Romanian, Hungarian, Slovak, Polish, Georgian
    • Czech, German, Italian, French, Swedish, Latvian
