R&D Intern

The purpose of this internship is to prepare college students for entry into the business world by providing a thorough understanding of the diverse business functions of a manufacturing and packaging organization to include theory and practical application of attained knowledge.

Objective

Create a combinatorial menu of surfactants for hair care development

Abstract

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

Hair care surfactant systems with the present regulatory and customer requirements are challenging to develop. This project centers on finding suitable chemistry, concentration, combination, and cost to effectively address. Routinely, development of these forms is difficult to attain and require many redirects and trials to satisfy the customers’ demand of aesthetics and physical-chemical specifications. The goal of this project will be to find cost effective tertiary or quaternary systems that would solve all the requirements stated above. This would enable the formulator to quickly employ one of these systems for the desired result benefitting shorter time on the formulation bench, reliable manufacturing viscosity specification, and more reliable turnaround time for the customer.

Deliverable

Create at least 2 or more optimized, “clean” surfactant systems that are stable and maintain a desired minimum viscosity for the reapplication of development in the hair cleansing category.

Qualifications

Currently pursuing a college undergraduate or graduate degree

Willing to commit to the intern position for 3 months, with the possibility of a longer internship available

Willing to learn and get hands-on experience

Able to commit to a full-time position (40 hours per week)

Knowledge and experience with MS Office Suite.

Physical Requirements

Work is primarily done in an office setting

Sitting at a work area for majority of your shift.

Stand, walk and climb stairs on an infrequent basis.

Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds on an infrequent basis.
