Position Overview And Primary Duties And Responsibilities (essential Functions)The Radio Technician provides expert-level support for all Department of State owned radio communications equipment throughout Iraq.Primary/Major Duties And Responsibilities (Essential Functions)The Radio Technician will successfully apply knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures for the particular area of specialization.Responsible to complete moderately complex assignments under the guidance of shop supervisor.Responsible to provide operations and maintenance support to multiple tactical and land mobile radio systems. Including but not limited to Motorola XTS/XTL-5000, and Kenwood TK-5210/TK-5710.Will provide operations and maintenance support on networking and communications equipment providers��� (i.e. Motorola, Cisco, Telex) equipment.Will perform communications surveys, new installations and preventative maintenance for vehicle and fixed site systems.Will develop and conduct training for U.S. Government personnel and private contractors regarding the proper use, care, and preventative maintenance of assigned systems.Required Qualifications And ExperienceRequired Qualifications and Experience:Associate degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience or high school diploma with a minimum of 5 years of experienceMust be able to obtain Department of State medical clearance for Employee Self-Certification and Ability to Perform in Emergencies (ESCAPE) posts.Must possess 5 years of technical experience in modern RF communications systems and be able to successfully demonstrate key responsibilities and knowledge; hands-on work experience.Must possess technical experience in Motorola Astro 25 conventional systems (K Core preferred).Must have technical knowledge of RF Communications (VHF/UHF/HF) communications equipment.Experience working on scaffolding, extension ladders, rooftops, ledges, and communication towers up to 100 meters in height.Tower climbing certified; must provide current certificateExperience installing and maintaining handheld, base station, repeater stations and mobile vehicle land mobile radios.Position requires self-motivation and the ability to work effectively under minimal supervision. Must demonstrate the ability to interact with all levels of an organization in a professional, diplomatic, and tactful manner.Must demonstrate a good attitude and ability to work as a member of a cohesive team.Must be able to multi-task efficiently, work in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects and have strong attention to detail.Must possess excellent writing and verbal skills. Must be proficient with Microsoft Windows operating systems and office automation software (e.g., Microsoft Office, SharePoint).Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET Security Clearance.Pursuant to the Government Contract, must be a U.S. Citizen.
