POSITION TITLE: RADIO PRODUCTION TRAINER

REPORTS TO: IREX Program Representative

POSITION SUMMARY

IREX is seeking aRADIO PRODUCTION TRAINER to design and deliver a series of workshops and courses for Syrian media partners through IREX’s Supporting Independent Media in Syria II (SIMS-II) program. IREX has several partners (radio, TV and online) that produce Arabic-language broadcasts, including current affairs and news programs, to Syrian audiences.

The trainer will be required to help develop the overall radio production quality of news and current affairs teams in a radio station based in Syria. The training will be conducted remotely. The trainer will focus on overall shape and content of the main news programs both from an editorial and production standpoint. Advice will be given on quality control of items, construction of the running order, news selection and all other aspects of overall program production. The trainer will also give advice on the content and shape of a selection of current affairs programs including political and social affairs talk shows.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Designing practical workshops for producers/editors on construction of news and current affairs programming.
  • Delivering workshops and on the job training on production of news and current affairs programming.
  • Providing extensive feedback on the outlet’s own news and current affairs programming.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Ten years’ experience working in broadcast media as a radio producer/editor.
  • Excellent training and communication skills.
  • Strong editorial background in broadcast media.
  • Experience of working in the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) geographic region preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience as a trainer.
  • Native Arabic language preferred.
