QA Lead Engineer – Power Performance

The Role

Our Software QA organization is looking for a senior QA Engineer to lead our power performance validation. As a QA Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for defining SW power performance metric used for different products, perform tasks such as validation planning, feature specification review, test content generation/automation, as well as validation coordination. Additionally, the QA Lead will be the key liaison with Software and Hardware Engineering teams, working closely with senior technical leaders to drive cross functional collaboration, best practices, and process improvement.

The Person

  • Be accountable for defining/maintaining power performance metric, test cases and use cases on different AMD Consumer products
  • Lead and build AMD graphics driver power performance test automation infrastructure and deploy test farm in the lab
  • Mentor and guide daily work of junior engineers in test execution engineers
  • Explore technical development direction of QA functions.
  • Evaluate to automate tests that programmatically access the functionality.
  • Review automated test scripts developed from manual tests.
  • Review all test case content built with the development team that drives the power performance measure for new SW features.
  • Conduct code reviews (when required) and change lists associated with the feature implementation, drive triage/debug and work with Engineering teams on defect resolution

Preferred Experience

  • Should have proven experience in software/hardware test techniques and methodologies.
  • Experience in leading teams on validation projects will be a plus.
  • Should have a good conceptual understanding of OS internals and PC/server subsystems is highly preferred.
  • Experience/knowledge on power performance validation/metric definition will be a strong plus.
  • Sophisticated experience with graphics subsystems is an added advantage.
  • Familiarity with requirement management tools, such as Jira and Confluence is an advantage.
  • Should possess good problem-solving, critical thinking, time management, and prioritization skills.
  • Previous scripting/automation programming experience, such as Perl/C++, would be a big asset

Academic Credentials

  • BS in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering or equivalent from a university.
  • Candidates without a Computer Science degree but with proven experience are welcome to apply.
