Project Overview

The goal of the USAID Business Support Project (BSP) is to enhance sustainable and inclusive economic growth by strengthening businesses and the business-enabling environment in targeted sectors, while addressing the barriers faced by women, youth, and underrepresented groups. This Activity has the following objectives:

  • Objective 1: Reduced barriers to private sector growth in the ICT, tourism, and textiles sectors and green economy sub-sectors.
  • Objective 2: Increased private sector investment and access to finance in ICT, tourism, and textiles sectors and green economy sub-sectors.

Purpose of Position

Palladium seeks a Public Relations (PR) Specialist that will provide and maintain positive public awareness of the project and provide translation and interpretation services.

Duration

The duration of the USAID BSP Activity is projected for 5 years (September 30, 2023 to September 29, 2028).

Location

This position is located in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

Reporting and Supervision

This position reports to the Communications Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Communications Manager to plan and execute a range of communications deliverables highlighting BSP’s objectives and priorities.
  • Provide meeting support including organizing and running meetings on a range of meeting platforms.
  • Work with technical leads to support the conceptualization, management, and implementation of virtual and in-person events.
  • Collaborate with the Communications Manager and technical leads to produce internal and external communication products such as briefers, presentations, success stories, press releases, etc.
  • Enhance the project’s voice and presence through online and offline channels.
  • Manage media relations and requests along with the Communications Manager.
  • Provide translation of meeting notes and other documents and interpretations.
  • Any other project-related tasks as assigned and required by the Communications Manager.

Key Competencies Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, international relations, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in communications, public information, or media.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills, including the ability to summarize and distill large amounts of technical data and information into concise messaging.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and oversee multiple complex tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team, with a strong sense of initiative and responsibility.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to develop and communicate a common vision to the activity team and partners from different nationalities and cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to foster two-way knowledge exchanges: collect and share best practices with diverse, often highly technical audiences.
  • Fluency in written and spoken Uzbek, English, and Russian.
  • Ability to shoot photos/videos and to work with recording equipment.
  • Knowledge of photo/video editing software.

Competencies Preferred

  • Experience in social media management (SMM) and copywriting.
