The American Staffing Association is the voice of the U.S. staffing, recruiting, and workforce solutions industry. ASA and its state affiliates advance the interests of the industry across all sectors through advocacy, research, education, and the promotion of high standards of legal, ethical, and professional practices.

This position supports the director of public relations of the association.

Supports the director of public relations

·      Assisting with the coordination of public relations, social media, and industry marketing programs and initiatives

·      Scheduling social media posts and tracking metrics. Preparing social media reports and associated graphics

·      Writing for a variety of print and electronic products, including, but not limited to, news releases, social media posts, magazine and newsletter articles, video scripts, and web-based copy

·      Filming and producing videos and creating other visuals (e.g., graphics) for PR and other association needs

·      Distributing news releases and other PR products, developing and maintaining media lists, gathering metrics, and performing other research

·      Providing direct assistance for annual industry awards programs. Working with the director of public relations in executing awards-related communications and marketing plans. Providing administrative support to awards program management

·      Provides support to public relations, industry marketing, and social responsibility committees

·      Performing daily and ad hoc news monitoring to create reports and associated graphics for senior management, other staff, and additional executive audiences

·      Serving as back up to director of public relations for inquiries by email and telephone from members of the news media and the general public seeking information or comments from the association on industry issues

·      Providing administrative support, as requested

·      Serves on phone team to relieve receptionist

Qualifications:

Requires an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, marketing, or English. College internships in a related field also are preferred. Proficiencies in using Adobe and Microsoft Office suite products and familiarity with journalistic writing style.

Must possess solid writing, proofing, and third-party research skills, be able to adjust to the rapidly changing news cycles, have excellent phone manners and professional demeanor, and feel at ease interacting with reporters, association members, and the general public. Attention to detail is a must. The ideal candidate possesses a creative eye and has the ability to juggle and manage multiple, deadline-driven tasks in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
