Focus on our activities in Afghanistan

Our mission in Afghanistan has been open since since 1980. PUI is developing its integrated approach in Health, Nutrition, MHPSS and Water-Hygiene-Sanitation. In addition, PUI works on a fixed-site intervention via primary health centers or first aid centers, in support of certain hospitals, or via the deployment of mobile clinics in the most remote areas. Today, the mission consists of 6 main projects, some of which are linked.

What about the Public Affairs Manager ?

As Public Affairs Manager, under the responsibility of the Head of Mission, you will lay foundations and provide recommendations as for the strategic attention to and directions of PUI’s institutional plan in the country.

For this purpose, you will be responsible for :

  • Development and operation : You will design, develop and operationalize a Public Affair Strategy and action plan for the mission.
  • Policy : You will ensure the development and the publication of a series of advocacy products and you will develop/update communication products pack.
  • External coordination : Under the guidance of the Head of Mission, you will represent the association and attend external meetings in order to give greater visibility and engagement in advocay efforts.

What you will need to succeed

  • Training : You hold a Master’s degree or equivalent in Political Sciences, International Humanitarian Law and/or Humanitarian Rights. Specific studies related to the EU institutions would be appreciated.
  • Experience : You are strengthened by minimum 2 years in a similar position in an international context. A previous experience in the country would be an asset. You already worked with Première Urgence Internationale ? It would be a definite asset!
  • Skills : You have a good knowledge of International Humanitarian Law, International Human Rights Law, international institutions and their functioning. You have a proven ability to analyse complex policy issues, to identify opportunities for influence and to articulate strategies to achieve policy change. You master the Pack MS Office. Knowledge of Graphic and Photo software would be appreciated.
  • Qualities : You are able to work in a team, to network, influence and federate actors around a common objective. You present strong public speaking and writing skills. You have analysis and synthesis abilities, present a critical thinking and you are strategic and clear minded. You show diplomacy, patience and you are a good communicator. You are motivated, determined, reactive and you have a capacity to propose new visions or new tools for advocacy. You have also a strong resilience to stress.
  • Languages : English has no secrets for you! All the better, it is mandatory for this position. Pashto or Dari would be an asset.

Please note that vaccination against Covid-19 is mandatory for this country for security and safety reasons. Compliant vaccines are those validated by the World Health Organization.

PUI will offer you

  • Status : Employé(e) with a Fixed-Term Contract
  • Monthly Gross Income : 2 190,00 – 2 420,00 EUR depending on your experience in International Solidarity + 50€ per semester of seniority with PUI
  • Insurance including medical coverage and complementary healthcare, 24/24 assistance and repatriation
  • Housing in collective accomodation
  • Daily Living Expenses (“Per Diem”)
  • Break Policy : 5 working days every 2 months + break allowance
  • Paid Leaves Policy : 5 weeks of paid leaves per year + return ticket every 6 months
