Location: Beirut, Lebanon

Duration: 12 months/renewable

Background

COSV started to operate in MENA region since 2007 with the idea of looking for innovative ways to add value to the cooperation between international, European, Italian NGOs and the Mediterranean region, assuming a role of support in dealing with local issues that are also linked to the more general Euro-Mediterranean dimension.

This approach is carried out through the following main tracks and tools, in connection with the

local contexts and the regional and the European environments:

– To support socio-economic development of local communities working towards

sustainable peace building and social cohesion.

– To create a more secure and enabling educational environment fostering a smooth transition to the labour market.

With regard to Education, COSV works alongside communities on:

a. Provision of training on PSS and Life Skills and Citizenship Education (LSCE) to children and education practitioners to become equipped with tools and techniques to reduce violence and bullying and empowered to become active citizens in their society

b. Provision of oriented and on-the-job training and mentoring and coaching to youth combined with seed funding to projects/business ideas

Objectives:

The consultant will work alongside with a multidisciplinary team and the tasks related to PSS and Education (formal/informal and non-formal) include but not limited to:

· Area-based Education assessments and analysis;

· LSCE and PSS program development, review and adaptation;

· Promote multiple pathways to learning, ensure enabling (institutional) environments.

· Conduct trainings and coaching sessions with partners

· Develop a regional measurement instrument for LSCE

· Technical and operational support to program implementation

· Networking and partnership building

· Lead the development or the revision of education/training materials, and tools, in English and Arabic;

· Coordinate with partners and advise on the planning of awareness events and community forums related to the education field and PSS for children.

Criteria:

· Master Degree in Education and/or social science background

· At least five years of work experience in children/youth programming, psychosocial support or protection or a similar position in MENA region

· Experience in LSCE and PSS curriculum design and capacity building modules.

· Knowledge of the MENA region context

· Experience with Education related advocacy work

· Strategic capacity to analyze complex environments, assessing risks and needs from a variety of sources.

· Experience working with teams in complex, volatile and remotely managed contexts

· Fluency in English and Arabic, both written and verbal
