Our International Projects team has an exciting opportunity for a Protection Technical Advisor to join the team in North Wilkesboro, NC! This position responsible for integrating and mainstreaming protection considerations across sectors into the design, proposal, execution, evaluation, and reporting processes to ensures that protection interventions regarding women and vulnerable populations are of the highest quality. A day in the life of a Protection Technical Advisor:

In the role of Protection Technical Advisor, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him
  • Oversee knowledge sharing across Protection teams in country offices in coordination with other sectors. Ensures monitoring and evaluation results are understood and used to improve programming.
  • Advise on the technical design and implementation of field projects, and provides assessments and reports of current efforts. Work with field staff to mainstream appropriate women’s issues and integrate spiritual aspects into interventions.
  • Disseminate evidence-based programming concepts, guidance, tools, technical papers, standards, and frameworks regarding issues facing women at risk.
  • Maintain global relevancy in the sector and represent Samaritan’s Purse at Protection-related or donor events. Actively pursue grant and funding opportunities in current fields.
  • Ensure consistency amongst global Protection initiatives and with Samaritan’s Purse’s overall strategies.
  • Travel to field offices to consult with field managers and senior field staff, as requested.
  • Ensure international best practices and Samaritan’s Purse policies are applied in the work with displaced populations and with women and children, in particular.
  • Develop and maintain best practices and training resources in the Protection sector.
  • Provide technical guidance and review of programming funding proposals, assessments, and surveys related to women at risk, as well as broader Protection themes.
  • Ensure that programs targeting women at risk are consistent with Samaritan’s Purse core Christian values, and are making appropriate Christ-centered contributions to the work of the international community.
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Women’s Studies, International Relations, Humanitarian Assistance, Protection, or related field and 5-10 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s degree preferred
  • Significant international experience preferred
  • Experience with cross-cultural communication and ministry preferred
  • Working knowledge of MS Office software, including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • 12 credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies (required); if not already completed, opportunity to meet and complete requirement is available upon hire.

Type: Full-Time

Language Requirement: Fluency in English (required); knowledge of French and/or Spanish (preferred)

Travel Expectations: Requires international and/or domestic travel up to 30% of the year; required travel documents and vaccinations for entry into foreign countries will be necessary
