Context:

Under the overall supervision of the Programs Manager, the direct supervision of the Protection Coordinator, and in collaboration with relevant teams onsite in NW Syria, the Protection Officer and Safeguarding Officer will be responsible and accountable for the following:

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Provide technical, administrative and logistical support to the Protection Coordinator in relation to the implementation of general coordination and prioritization of protection activities across the areas of protection/safeguarding mainstreaming, case management and community-based protection, with a specific focus on GBV and child protection.
  2. Supervise a protection field team composed of PSS workers/case workers specialized in GBV and child protection and organize the protection team’s work.
  3. Work alongside the field safeguarding focal point to ensure the implementation of all safeguarding-related activities.
  4. Coordinate closely with Protection Officers and Protection field teams, as well as partners, to support the implementation of functional referral pathways and specifically Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) for relevant services.
  5. Provide technical and process support for the establishment and functioning of the Protection Information Management system and regular records updating.
  6. Protection & Gender Mainstreaming and being a focal point for PSEA.
  7. Providing any required/needed support to the Protection Coordinator/Manager in enhancing MIHAD’s coordination and communication efforts with relevant stakeholders.
  8. Participate as the Protection and Safeguarding focal point in internal and external coordination meetings as requested by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field from an accredited academic institution.
  2. At least two years of relevant professional experience or four years of relevant working experience

Experience:

  1. Experience in supervising and guiding field teams with a strong background in protection in humanitarian and crisis settings.
  2. Experience in safeguarding mechanisms and PSEA.
  3. Demonstrated experience in protection case management, including capacity building, supervision and coaching of caseworkers, development and revision of technical tools, and field experience.
  4. Knowledge or experience in project management, results-based management, Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL), and Monitoring and evaluation (M&E), an asset.

Skills:

  1. Proven work ethics and commitment to humanitarian principles.
  2. Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse persons.
  3. Excellent organizational, facilitation, communication, presentation, and analytical skills.
  4. Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Languages:

For this position, fluency in English and Arabic is required (oral and written).
