ACTED PSEAH Policy:

The Protection Project Assistant-CCCM has the responsibility to adhere to the PSEAH Policy (Protection against Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment). The Protection Project Assistant-CCCM has the obligation to complete all mandatory trainings related to the Code of Conduct and the PSEA policy and report any safeguarding concern such as breaches of organisational policies or codes of conduct according to ACTED’s procedures. Protection Project Assistant-CCCM carries out work duties in a way that does not harm children, vulnerable adults or other staff or volunteers.

Job Purpose:

The Protection Project Assistant-CCCM is responsible for overseeing and carrying out day-to-day protection cases in ACTED-supported camps, sites, and informal settlements in Northern Aleppo. The Protection Project Assistant-CCCM is under the direct management of the CCCM Team leader and will be technically supported by the Country Protection Technical Coordinator and the Protection Officer.

Objectives:

The Protection Project Assistant-CCCM will be supporting the CCCM team in identifying vulnerable or at-risk individuals in the camps and/or individuals in needs of protection services, conducting safe and confidential referrals to protection services and other available services in the camps, updating the services map in the work area, referring the vulnerable protection cases to the active actors in the area according to the need, assisting in preparing reports and trackers for the identified and served cases accordingly, archiving all the documents according to ACTED data security policies and coordination with other sections in the project for identified cases.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Protection Project Assistant-CCCM has the responsibility to adhere to the PSEAH Policy (Protection against Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment). The Protection Project Assistant-CCCM carries out work duties in a way that does not harm children, vulnerable adults and other staff and volunteers.

Protection mainstreaming:

· Identification and monitoring of protection risks and concerns in each site/settlement through observations and discussions with Committees, Protection Focal Points, community leaders, site/camp residents, and partners including protection organizations.

· Participate in regular site risks spot check in the targeted sites focusing on identifying key protection risks and safety issues in the camp layout and design of main facilities (shelters, WASH, roads, site layout, etc.) and ensure to provide timely recommendations to site maintenance team for mitigating the risks identified.

·Support in conducting safety audits in the sites through FGDs, KIIs, and spot checks.

Support to protection focal points and referrals:

· Through the guidance of the Protection Officer, ensure proper capacity building, guidance, and communication with the selected camp protection focal points in the sites.

· Ensure that they follow their TORs and support for their liaison with protection organizations in each site.

· Hold weekly meetings with protection focal points and discuss protection issues identified by the focal points and specific needs for referrals of vulnerable or at-risk individuals.

· Conduct actors and service mapping and development of referral pathways in each site/camp.

· In full coordination with the Protection officer, ensure timely and safe referrals of vulnerable or at-risk individuals identified and in respect of their informed consent to protection agencies and/or relevant and competent services providers as per the referral pathways.

· Follow up on all referrals done with service providers to ensure assistance was provided.

· Ensure proper documentation and timely information of referrals done and follow up results.

·Ensure that individuals with special needs are identified and receive target information on and support to access available services.

Other tasks in support to the CCCM team:

· Assisting in capacity building for CMUs, camp committees, and other stakeholders in collaboration with protection actors.

· Support when requested for organizing community events led by Committees and protection focal points.

·Conduct daily visits to the camps oversee the activities and collect all activities monitoring forms on daily basis and submit them to line manager.

· Organizing and supervising the CCCM Monitors in the data collection process for Needs assessments, Baseline assessment, FGDs, and activities monitoring.

Reporting:

·Prepare timely weekly reports to line manager, the Project Manager, and the Syria Protection officer on protection activities implemented and/or monitored, especially ensuring tracking of all trainings on protection, and tracking of referrals to other services for vulnerable or at-risks individuals.

· 100% of recommendation to solve or mitigate the protection risks and issues identified are referred internally or externally.

· 100% of activities weekly report are submitted on time.

· 100% of referrals are tracked and followed up.

· Quarterly updated protection actors service mapping.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Essential:

  • · High school certificate or above.
  • · Fluency in Arabic (written and spoken.)
  • · Two years’ experience working in Humanitarian organizations.
  • · Experience work in Protection
  • · Good experience work in protection.
  • · Good computer skills, MS Office.

Preferred:

  • · Female candidate is highly preferred
  • · Practical work in the protection department is highly preferred.
  • · Previous experience in working in camps settlements.
  • · Working knowledge of English language (spoken and written).
  • · Experience working in KOBO and other data collection tools.
  • · Good coordination and referral follow up skills with related actors.
  • · Very good communication and writing skills.
  • · Good organizational and prioritization skills.
  • · Ability to maintain highest degree of confidentiality and discretion.
  • · Flexibility and ability to work under pressure.
  • · Commitment to humanitarian principles.
  • · Extended knowledge of protection mainstreaming elements.
  • · Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, working with as a team member.
  • · Good understanding of SPHERE standards and environmental protection considerations.
