Job Summary:
-
The Protection Coordinator is responsible for leading and coordinating GBV and child protection initiatives in North West Syria. This includes representing SRD’s interests, planning and executing GBV programs in collaboration with field teams and partners, and building staff capacity to deliver high-quality services to affected women and girls. The role also ensures compliance with donor requirements, manages case referrals, and supports technical reporting. Additionally, the Protection Coordinator oversees community education campaigns, ensures program quality and safety, and handles any additional tasks requested by the direct manager.

Duties & Responsibilities
1. Collaboration and Coordination:
-
Ensure that SRD’s policy and operational interests in the area of protection (child protection/GBV) are actively represented.

Coordinate with SRD project manager in Syria and Turkey for project planning related to the continued delivery of the full Gender-Based Violence (GBV) response and prevention package in PHCs and safe spaces as per the project concept.

Coordinate with Field Protection Coordinator and GBV Program Manager in Turkey with daily regular communication. Coordinate with Senior Child Protection Officer and MHPSS Coordinator when needed.

Coordinate with NGO partners regarding training and implementation of the GBV program of the project, including support for the implementation of training and technical assistance efforts.

Coordinate with other program teams, including health, education, and livelihoods, to ensure a coordinated approach to addressing the protection and GBV needs of beneficiaries.
2. Execution and Monitoring
-
Supervise all GBV programs across NW Syria.
-
Ensure compliance with donor requirements and reporting, including regular reporting on protection and GBV activities
3. Communication and Reporting
-
Provide technical GBV support to the Outreach team in the timely completion of all reports, including weekly, monthly, quarterly, final, and any other required, ensuring reports are of an acceptable standard and match the Kobo data introduced by the SRD MEAL team
4. Team Leadership and Development
-
Further build the organizational and technical capacity of project staff to continue providing high-quality services to GBV survivor women and girls or those at risk of GBV.

Train staff on case management and a case-centered approach to dealing with survivors.
5. Representation and Initiative:
- Ensure that SRD’s policy and operational interests in the area of protection (child protection/GBV) are actively represented.
- Assist in the coordination of community-based education and advocacy campaigns to support SRD community involvement.
6. Risk Management and Quality Assurance
- Supervise all GBV programs to ensure they meet quality standards.
- Ensure compliance with donor requirements and reporting, including regular reporting on protection and GBV activities.
7. Safeguarding and PSEAH Responsibilities
- Receive referred cases and follow up as the main organization focal point
8. Flexibility and Additional Responsibilities:

Maintain flexibility to take on added responsibility as needed.
Qualifications Requirements9. Education:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Education, or relevant field.
-
A master’s degree in these fields is an advantage.
10. Citizenship Requirment:
-
Turkish citizenship is mandatory
11. Required Work Experience:
-
Experience: At least 3 years of project coordination experience (Protection and GBV)
-
Experience in I/NGOs is essential.
-
Competencies and Skills:

Strong leadership and mentoring skills; conversant with best practices in humanitarian interventions, including adherence to international humanitarian standards and codes of conduct;

Extraordinary communication, interpersonal, and diplomacy skills.

Competency in using office suites, including Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.

Commitment to the mission and values of the SRD.

Proficient in English and Arabic (writing –reading –speaking) – Turkish is desired.
