JOB OVERVIEW:

The Property Accountant is responsible for ensuring financial statements accurately reflect the activities of a portfolio of properties in any given month by maintaining the general and sub ledgers, making month-end and year-end entries, and regularly communicating with Property Management.

Our company emphasizes a team approach and expects every person to perform any reasonable task or request that is consistent with fulfilling company objectives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Maintenance of multiple General Ledgers
  • Creation and maintenance of workpapers
  • Monthly reconciliation of bank statements
  • Posting of monthly closing entries
  • Production of accurate financial statements under required methods of accounting
  • Preparation of monthly financial statements for property managers, owners, and lenders
  • Entering lease information into accounting platform
  • Recording cash receipts
  • Special projects as assigned.

MINIMUM SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting.
  • Minimum of 4 years of accounting experience, including: General ledger maintenance, reviewing and understanding financial statements, cash receipt processing.
  • Experience with Yardi and/or other property management/accounting software is preferred.
  • Effective use of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook to professionally communicate internally and externally.
  • Communicate effectively with Principals, investors, and associates, both verbally and in writing
  • Attention to detail – accuracy is imperative.
  • Strong analytical ability; detail oriented with strong initiative and analytical skills.
  • Well organized; self-starter, able to handle multiple priorities
  • Ability to solve and react quickly to issues and problems.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a highly deadline driven environment.
