Property Accountant

Our client within commercial/industrial property management is seeking a Property Accountant to join their growing team! Reporting directly to the Controller, the Property Accountant is responsible for a specific portfolio of properties.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Prepare and report monthly HST.
• Reconciliation of bank statements, mortgages, loans and monthly journal entries.
• Prepare and process Tenant CAM/TAX recovery reconciliations annually.
• Investigate and validate recovery rules in tenant leases.
• Verify code and ensure processing of accounts payable, once authorized by property manager
• and review payments for accuracy before submit to Management for signatures.
• Ensure correct chargeback such as utilities to tenants.
• Prepare intercompany billings for commission, Management Fees and Maintenance Wages.
• Prepare and submit annual MPAC financial reporting requirement, vacancy rebates.
• Prepare and submit quarterly survey of financial statements required by Statistic Canada.
• Prepare yearend audit working papers and liaison with auditors.
• Prepare various accounting reports and analysis as requested.
• Prepare audited and unaudited financial statements for internal and external users.
• Prepare and reviewing of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.
• Support property management personnel in financial accounting matters.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by Management.

Qualifications and Experience

• Must be Proficient in Yardi Voyager 7S financial reporting.
• College diploma or University degree is required.
• Accounting designation in CPA, CMA/CGA an asset
• Minimum 3 years full cycle accounting experience in the commercial/industrial Property
• Management field.
• Strong systems skills (Excel, Word, Outlook) required
• Detail oriented with superior analytical and communications skills.
