Job Title: Project Worker – Aftercare/Day Programme

Responsible to:The Executive through the Regional Deputy Head of Operations and Service Delivery

Responsible for:The direct delivery of Supported Housing, Aftercare Group and Day Programme services to clients of Merchant’s Quay Ireland’s Aftercare Services.

Reports to: Aftercare Services Co-ordinator and Lead Project Worker

Objective: To effectively deliver services pertaining to the Supported Housing, Aftercare Group and Day Programme services, and in doing so to uphold the philosophy and working ethos of MQI.

PERSONNEL

  • To work as part of a team and actively encourage this ethos among the workers.

ADMINISTRATIVE

  • To comply with the Aftercare Services Co-ordinator requirements in relation to all appropriate paperwork and filing of data relevant to the service; in particular intervention records and client care plans and files.

CLIENTS

  • To work with the Aftercare Services Co-ordinator in the identification and assessment of the needs of our clients.
  • To act in a ‘key worker’ capacity with designated clients in accordance with structures agreed with the Aftercare Services Co-ordinator.
  • To facilitate / co-facilitate support groups and psychoeducational workshops as agreed with the Aftercare Services Co-ordinator.
  • To develop individual care plans for clients as agreed with the Aftercare Services Co-ordinator.
  • To organise and run the Aftercare Group on a weekly basis as directed by the Aftercare Services Co-ordinator.
  • To ensure that the needs of our clients are attended to with sensitivity and efficiency.
  • To be up to date and aware of good practices and procedures in the delivery of services to our clients.
  • To ensure that all relevant client records are logged on MQI’s Treatment Outcome Monitoring & Information System (TOMIS) I.T. system.

TRAINING

  • To attend all training sessions, workshops and courses as requested by the Aftercare Services Co-ordinator.
  • To support and facilitate the transference of learning to workers, trainees and volunteers.
  • To actively engage with your Supervisor regarding ones own personal/ professional needs in the context of being an effective worker on the Project.

GENERAL

  • To maintain a good relationship with external agencies on behalf of the Project.
  • In conjunction with the Aftercare Services Co-ordinator, identify other opportunities for MQI clients to acquire move-on accommodation and support.
  • To assist with any other duties which the Aftercare Services Co-ordinator might reasonably request.
  • To become familiar with and ensure that all MQI’s policies and procedure are being adhered to, particularly those relating to Health & Safety, HR, Confidentiality, Boundaries and Staff Code of Ethics
  • To have a flexible approach to the work in response to organisational change, development and review of best practice.

Personal Specification

  • Relevant degree Level 7 qualification in the area of addiction / social care
  • At least one-year full time or equivalent experience of working within aftercare, residential or other related services
  • Have an understanding of the issues relating to alcohol and drug use/homelessness and mental health.
  • Good Knowledge of relevant legislation, policy and practice regarding homelessness and/or drug use.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills.
  • Experience of Key working and care planning desirable.
  • Experience of working with clients with multiple needs.
  • Awareness of boundary issues particular to Aftercare and residential settings.
  • An attitude and approach consistent with MQI core ethos and values.
  • Full clean Drivers licence desirable essential.

Salary: €16,437 – 20,437.00 depending on experience.

Hours: 19.5 hours per week Monday/Wednesday/Friday. Set days.

Type of Contract: Contract of Indefinite Duration

Location: Aftercare Recovery Services.
