role PURPOSE

Plan International is an independent child rights and humanitarian organization committed to children living a life free of poverty, violence and injustice. Plan actively unite children, communities and other people who share our mission to make positive lasting changes in children’s and young people’s lives. Plan support children to gain the skills, knowledge and confidence they need to claim their rights to a fulfilling life, today and in the future. Plan place a specific focus on girls and women, who are most often left behind. Plan International has been working in Jordan since 2016, collaborating with national and international partners to support the recovery and resilience of the Jordanian host population and Syrian refugees by providing Inclusive, safe quality education (IQE), Skills and opportunities for youth ​employm​ent and entrepreneurship (SOYEE), child protection, and women’s empowerment services. The project is designed to have girls and boys between 7 and 24 years, who dropped out of school for more than three years, go back to school. This allows them to obtain through non-formal education a diploma in two years or through vocational training, with which they can continue studying, find a job or start their own business.

the ‘Talents Unlimited’ project is implemented by an international consortium, led by Plan International Netherlands and Plan International Jordan and further consisting of: JOHUD (Jordan) as implementing partner and technical partner Aflatoun.

Plan International Jordan is seeking an experienced Project volunteer with demonstrated knowledge and experience in project implementation and liaising with relevant stakeholders, focusing on (vocational and non-formal) education and youth economic empowerment. The Project volunteer will have role to represent Plan International in a “front-line” role, effectively and efficiently communicating the Talents Unlimited project’s objectives, activities and methodology to project stakeholders. The Project volunteer will facilitate regular coordination meetings with staff, national and local partner in order to ensure effective implementation of project activities as per the set timelines.

Dimensions of the Role

The Project volunteer will be based in Amman and will travel to project locations across Jordan on a regular basis. He or she will support in the follow-up and implementation of some of the ‘Talents Unlimited’ project activities. He/she will support the Project Manager with plan preparation and other duties as needed;

• This role acts as the front-line in working directly with communities through different community partners;
• This role has no direct staff;
• This role requires close relationship with children/youth and their families.

Accountabilities

The Project volunteer is entitled to support the Projects Manager and facilitate the implementation of Plan’s programs in tandem with the approved plan of the program unit.

Project volunteer will be based in Amman with frequent travel to project locations inside Jordan. He/ She will support in the following:

• Perform his/her duties and responsibilities in accordance to the plan and in addition to the programmatic, administrative and financial policies/ regulations of Plan International, and in line with the donor rules and regulations.

• In close cooperation with the Project Manager and the relevant departments, ensure detailed implementation plans for the outreach are implemented in line with project activities and quality standards.

• Coordinate all activities of the outreach workers.

• Facilitate regular meetings with field workers in order to ensure effective implementation of outreach activities as per the set timelines.

• Support in producing activity progress in the field and provide accurate and timely status reports.

• Support in collecting quantitative and qualitative data in accordance with the monitoring and evaluation plan and provide updates and reports to the project manager.

• Create outreach plan to reach more beneficiaries with outreach workers,

• Contribute to plan and coordinate different activities that are intended to identify, capture the attention and interest of, and foster involvement of beneficiaries (and their families) based on the project criteria including, but not limited to:

  • Receive and share information about beneficiaries’ interests, concerns and needs
  • Provide information regarding project, services and opportunities.
  • Contribute in developing linkages and maintaining effective working relationships with other community services/agencies to facilitate contacts and services with beneficiaries.
  • Documentation of the activities and mobilization process through the committing to fill the required forms and ensure that there is no lack of information when delivered to the employee concerned.
  • The volunteer must be coordinated to ensure that data are not repeated and that the same family is not visited more than once.
  • Organize and facilitate online and in-person activities for project as needed
  • In close cooperation with the Project Manager and the relevant departments, he/she ensure that data are not repeated and that the same family is not visited/called more than once.
  • He/ She will support the Project Manager with the preparation of plans and producing reports aligned with requirements;
  • Ensure that child and youth safeguarding standards are understood and met.
  • Undertake all other duties that may be determined by the line manager and that are compatible with the job.

Child protection, gender equality and inclusion

• Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in accordance with the principles and requirements of the policy including relevant Implementation Standards and Guidelines as applicable to their area of responsibility. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring staff and associates are aware of and understand their responsibilities under these policies and Plan

Key relationships

The post-holder will report to the Project Manager. He/she will coordinate closely with the relevant staff. The post holder will also work closely with all project partners as well as other stakeholders if needed.

Technical expertise, skills and knowledge

Essential

• Bachelor degree in business studies, social science, economics, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
• Minimum one year of progressively responsible professional experience in NGO.
• Preferably has knowledge of business and income generating activities in the context of Jordan,
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, training and facilitation skills,
• Strong coordination, networking and advocacy skills,
• Good verbal and written language skills in English and Arabic
• Awareness of child protection issues
• Sensitivity to gender and child protection.
• Acts with high degree of integrity and professionalism
• Ability to deal with complex situations and issues proactively and persistently

Physical Environment

The post-holder shall be based at Plan International Jordan offices in Amman with a minimum of 50% allocation for local travel to different host communities.
