ActionAid Myanmar’s approach is building capacity among youth and supporting them to work for the community for short- and long-term development for their own community. One of its main programs is participatory community development (includes livelihood, health, education, women’s rights, DRR etc.); through fellowship for young people to promote development in Myanmar. ActionAid Myanmar has been working in partnership with Government, the local and national NGOs in different states and divisions.

Position Title : Project Support Officer (Report Writing and Copy Editing)

Requirement : 1 post

Location : Flexible

Duration : 4 months initially

Role Overview : The Project Support Officer (Report Writing and Copy Editing) will primarily work on leading/supporting the narrative report writing, supporting the proposal writing process, finalising/editing reports, research and learning papers, and proposals under the guidance of the relevant department.

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities

Proposal write-up

  • Write new proposals, concept notes, narrative theory of change. Participate in discussions and workshops and under the guidance of CD, HoIP and Fundraising lead, will need to work on main draft of proposals
  • Contribute to Theory of change, context analysis, gender analysis, conflict analysis for proposal development.

Editing

  • Create, write, edit, and revise various forms of reports, research papers, policy briefs, proposals, communication products, in a consistent and coherent manner across all communication platforms.
  • Edit and proof-read various reports, research papers, policy briefs, proposals, communication products. The drafting and editing work may require some additional research and coordination with relevant staff.
  • Ensure all written work is authentic, original, and appropriately cited and/or referenced.
  • Support any other writing tasks related to communications, research, and reports, as required

Projects and Program Narrative Reporting

  • Guide, facilitate, and support the reporting to be in both timely and of quality for projects and programme narrative with a strong data and analysis from internal MEAL/Database system.
  • Support the project holder/manager for the writing of project/programme narrative report, especially for respective target audience of donor, and external audience of AAM.
  • Perform editorial and proof reading to assist sign-off process of SMT and CD

Others

  • Provide technical support on the full Human Rights Based Approach (HRBA) programme
  • Coordinate, support and consolidate learning and knowledge management processes ensuring the Programme thematic units have the right strategies in place to generate, disseminate
  • Support various units on Country Strategic Plan (CSP) M&E Framework, HRBA M&E, programme design, research, Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) of rooted and connected programmes
  • Be responsible to adhere/ Comply with approved organisational policies and procedures
  • Any tasks as assigned by line manager

Education & Certifications

  • University graduate/Any bachelor’s or the first professional degree in relevant field, such as social sciences, sociology, Human Rights, International Development, conflict and peace, gender etc.

Essential Experience

  • At least 3 years of experience in writing academic papers or other papers, studies, reports produced in related areas mentioned above.

Language Proficiency

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated exceptionally high-quality report writing and presentations.

Competency Required

  • Excellent networking skills and knowledge of Myanmar’s civil society.
  • Ability to transform technical concepts into content that is relevant and will achieve strategic objectives.
  • Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills.
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and oversee multiple complex tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent English writing skills for report writing
