Role Purpose

The post is responsible in providing technical and administrative support to program coordinator in carrying out the implementation of Advancing Child Sensitive Social Protection in the Philippines through mobilization of CSO partner, Community Support Group, Children and Youth and target Barangays with close coordination with the DSWD Provincial Office of Samar, Municipal links of the 6 municipalities of Samar: Villareal, Pinabacdao, Calbiga, Hinabangan, Jaibong, Motiong and Paranas and other activities related to the national scale up of ICDP parenting program with DSWD Central Office.

In 2017, Save the Children Philippines (SCP) began to actively engage with the 4Ps as part of a five-year initiative to promote Child Sensitive Social Protection (CSSP) supported by Save the Children Finland. The focus of the CSSP project has foremost been to enhance the child sensitivity of the 4Ps by implementing a parenting program with beneficiary households in close collaboration with the government. Another key intervention has been to establish a system at Barangay level to ensure that people get access to social protection (other than 4Ps) and livelihood programs that they are eligible for and increase community cohesion through organizing the community cluster of children or 3Cs approach. These approaches have yielded substantial results for community support and access to social protection, improved parenting practices and reduced maltreatment of children , behaviors which are proven to eventually strengthen social and emotional well-being of children.

Given the success of these initiatives, the CSSP program will advance its programing in Samar for 2022 to 2025 and scaling up of parenting program at DSWD national anchored on the Kilos Unlad case management strategy.

This post requires a basic appreciation of children’s rights and family key issues; knowledge and skills in facilitating ICDP parenting session and conduct effective meetings and workshops; designing and implementing capacity-building and group activities; and basic skills in program management, including budget management. Strong oral and written communication skills are required for this post.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • A graduate of Bachelor’s degree in the field (Sociology, economic, management, agriculture or social sciences)
  • ICDP Parenting Trainer is a must.
  • Experience in working with the local government units, People’s Organizations, community leaders and government agencies
  • With positive leadership skills and strong capacity building / training skills
  • With strong oral and written communication skills
  • Keen on details, can handle multiple tasks and can work with minimum supervision
  • Results oriented with a high sense of urgency
  • A team player with a well-developed work ethic
  • High degree of interpersonal skills. The post-holder should have the ability to relate and communicate effectively with the program partners to ensure that compliance issues are addressed and that working relationships are properly managed.
  • Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation
  • Willing to do field work in areas assigned
  • Computer literate and adept in the use of MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Can work well in highly stressful situations
