About the role

Project Officer, an employee who oversees MAPs projects, ensuring their efficient and effective implementation in alignment with MAPs mission and values. This role requires strong project management, coordination, and communication skills, managing and supervising projects to ensure compliance and donor guideline adherence.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of the projects, including planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Provide essential supervision and coordination for other projects to ensure their successful execution.
  • Collaborate with project teams to set project objectives, create work plans, and establish project timelines.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with donors’ funding guidelines and regulations for projects.
  • Provide guidance and support to project teams as needed to address project-related challenges.
  • Assist in budget planning and management for projects, including budget tracking, expense monitoring, and financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with the finance department to ensure proper financial oversight and compliance with budgetary requirements.
  • Prepare regular project reports, including progress, interim and final reports, or any other requested reports, adhering to deadlines and donor requirements.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including project plans, budgets, contracts, and other relevant records.
  • Act as a liaison between MAPS and other donors to facilitate effective communication and donor relations.
  • Respond to donor inquiries, requests for information, and reporting requirements promptly and professionally.
  • Attend the regular coordination meetings with Clusters, and the Working groups.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with a project management certificate such as PMP or PMD. A master’s degree is preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience in project management, with a focus on the humanitarian sector, and preferably with experience in education and/or vocational education projects.
  • Strong project management skills, including planning, implementation, and monitoring, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with donors’ funding guidelines and regulations.
  • Professional and prompt response to donor inquiries, requests for information, and reporting requirements.
  • Experience in proposal writing and reporting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including donors, partners, and staff.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions in complex situations.
  • Experience in budget development, planning, and management.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain accurate project documentation.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic.
  • Strong commitment to the values and mission of the organization.
  • The possible candidate should be able to travel to the north of Syria periodically, as a part of the job.
