We are seeking a highly-organised and motivated Project Manager with excellent project management, financial management, and interpersonal skills to work on managing and overseeing one of our most strategic projects.

The project is part of our Inclusive Economies work and focuses on the intersecting issues of climate action, inequality and labour rights. It aims to shape public discourse in local and international media by providing context, analysis, and news whilst amplifying the voices of civil society, workers, affected communities and experts. The ideal candidate must have strong experience of managing projects and driving programme quality. They must be a self-starter, effective communicator, and problem-solver. They will be able to juggle multiple demands to support the programme portfolio, staying calm under pressure and able to manage competing priorities. Occasional travel may be required.

About the Role

As a Project Manager at the Thomson Reuters Foundation, you will:

  • Effectively manage a large strategic project, working with multiple and diverse teams.
  • Deliver projects to plan, time and within budget to agreed levels of quality.
  • Produce project reports to key stakeholders on project(s) progress, including preparing narrative reports, identifying success stories and providing financial updates to donors.
  • Facilitate information sharing within the Programmes Team and with others across the Foundation.
  • Identify, assess and manage risks to effectively inform and ensure the success of the project.
  • Effectively collaborate and manage professional relationships across the foundation and build strong partnerships with all stakeholders linked to project deliverables and ambitions.
  • Works to strengthen project management approaches and best practice through the projects they manage and supports provided.
  • Support and mentor Project Co-Ordinators as required.
  • Travel internationally (as required) to monitor project implementation and ensure programme quality.

The Person

As a Project Manager for the Thomson Reuters Foundation, you will likely have:

  • Outstanding project and/or programme management skills and experience in monitoring and evaluating the impact of such projects (developing log frames, theories of change, KPIs and reports).
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work with changing priorities and time pressures.
  • Pro-active and problem-solving attitude, able to take on new or existing projects and drive quality and impact.
  • Ability to remotely manage projects and programmes effectively, which are globally located.
  • Experience in remote project management, project start up, mobilisation and closure.
  • Excellent budget and financial management, including strong Excel skills.
  • Experience of working effectively on projects funded by institutional and/or corporate donors and funders. Familiarity with donor reporting requirements, including Monitoring and Evaluation.
  • Track record in managing impactful projects, ideally related to international development.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills – able to establish and maintain positive working relationships both internally and externally, with people from diverse backgrounds.
