About Aid Gate Organization “AGO” 

 

Aid Gate Organization (AGO) is an independent, nonpartisan, national organization in Iraq whose history goes back to 2014 with the beginning of ISIL’s occupation in Iraq. At that time and throughout the mass conflicts occurring from 2014 onwards, ISIL groups took control of large swathes of the country, including Nineveh, Salah al-Din, Anbar, and parts of Diyala. This period witnessed an unprecedented wave of displacement for people who lived in these areas in addition to extreme human rights violations. With the Iraqi government, unable to provide much-needed, widespread assistance, many international organizations entered the country to facilitate a response. In doing so, local community members were actively recruited to assist in the movement and return of displaced peoples, while providing them with emergency life-saving assistance to meet their basic needs. Since 2014, AGO has been working untiringly to help Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), returnees, and vulnerable host communities for the implementation of whole-of-community resilience-building measures in Iraq. Today AGO is functional in Salah al-Din, Kirkuk, and the Nineveh governorates, with 50–150 employees, depending on the situation in the region. We are currently working on expanding our operations into the Anbar governorate as well as southern Iraq through proven programs to rebuild the lives of men, women, children, and refugees IDPs, minorities, ethnic groups and persons with disabilities.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

The Project Manager will be hired for a project of 24 months period, and the main responsibility of the project manager, since he will be based in Erbil and project intervention area and project staff will be Qaim district in Anbar Governorate, to ensure proper remote project and staff management, with regular visit to Qaim and project targeted areas and activities also to conduct person meet project staff and ensure project is on time and meeting work plan and quality required according to AGO and donor standards.

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Participate in the planning, design and implementation of all project activities
  • The Project manager will lead technical, budget management, monitoring and reporting activities through most of the project cycle – start-up, implementation and closeout – in line with AGO program quality principles and standards, donor requirements, and good practices.
  • Effectively manage talent and supervise. Manage team dynamics and staff well-being. Provide coaching, strategically tailor individual development plans, contribute to the recruitment process of project staff, and complete performance management for direct reports.
  • Ensure learning properly accompanies project activities throughout the project cycle. Support accountability through coordinating project evaluation activities following MEAL Policy. Proactively identify issues, report them to inform adjustments to plans and implementation schedules
  • Represent the organization with donors, INGO working groups, UN, relevant local partners and relevant local government and community actors
  • Ensure project records and documents required as means of verification of project activities are adequately collected, compiled, and archived according to AGO and donor procedure and donor requirements
  • The project manager will be the main member to participate in project staff recruitment process
  • Coordinate activities required for ensuring the financial, material and human resources for the quality implementation of the project. Conduct periodic budget reviews and follow-up with partners on timely submission of financial reports to facilitate proper tracking of resource use.
  • The project manager will have regular visit to Qaim district in Anbar governorate, to oversee the activities and the implementation and conduct in person meetings with project staff.
  • Respond and adjust to a flexible activity scheduling, logistical constraints related to public space management, or social dynamics involving the community and its expectations.
  • Respect, in accordance with humanitarian principles and human rights standards.
  • Conduct other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

 

Reporting and communication:

  • The project manager will be responsible for the project reports in different levels, receiving from field stakeholder and project staff.
  • Communication and reporting to donor.
  • Verbal and written reports to be shared with relevant project responsible persons in regular basis.
  • Keep the team updated with all new and progresses.
  • Following AGO and supervisor’s instructions for information sharing.
  • Participate and share AGO reports and thoughts in public event, clusters, meetings, conferences….etc.

 

Networking / Coordination:

  • Maintain good relations with all stakeholders and local authorities.
  • Collaborate closely with other team members and partners in the implementation of all activities.
  • Main project focal point with the donor.
  • Enhance AGO relationships with government entities in the interventions areas.
  • Keep and improve the networking and connection with local and international partners.

 


Qualifications & Preferred Skills

COMPETENCIES

  • Master’s degree or at least bachelor degree at the same or close to the field of announced position and as explain in the JD and JR.
  • At least 3 years of experience in project management and 3 years of technical experience.
  • Very good staff management skill.
  • Very good ability to remotely project and staff management.
  • Time management skills and effective problem-solving skills required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to work with both community members as well as local authorities in a sensitive and respectful manner, and ensuring that all community members are represented.
  • Team-building skills, able to effectively mobilize and motivate staff
